***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Well I think it looks OK, if you are a Samsung fan, then it's pretty decent, ticks all the boxes, and will be a damn good phone..

Unlike the S2, it just doesn't have it all it's own way this time, which is good, we have choices and a few differentiators means people can't go wrong this generation!

I've got a One X on its way, but only because it was cheap! If I was getting a new contract it would be a toss up between the S3 and One X, and there doesn't seem to be a clear winner..

I even got a bit suckered by the LTE One X CPU debacle, but I see now the full suite of benchies has been done, it's swings and roundabouts, perhaps S3 CPU will trump everything..

So absolutely no one likes it?

I really just cannot understand how you can make something look so bad.

Design lots of phone shells, put them out in a survey,
get the anonymous results back
Change it a little
Make said phone

Who designed this, thought it was a good idea, presented it, and other people AGREED?

Don't know what to do now tbh

The dual core in the S and XL (both the same CPU) is better than the X CPU and iirc better than the exynos 4 quad! :D

Sarge and kona are the ones to ask for this info!

Why do you want to cut your sim card down? Just walk into a phone shop and get a mini one for free, thats what voda did with my one X. I did consider if the SG3 was as stand out as the SG2 was, i would sell my One X but as it pretty much the same I see no need to.

If you are on GiffGaff.. ;)

I bet the HTC HQ is going wild just now! haha.

Glad I didn't wait in the end I was expecting something game changing.

S4 is a good chip but this top trums with phones CPUand GPU is retarded beyond belief. No phone has been laggy since the first dual cores of 2011, There is no way any quad or even dual core phones are being used to there full potential, Its purely for benchmarks piratically next to no real difference in real life

Well that's disappointing. Poor screen, awful design. Only thing I like about it is the quad core (I play a lot of console emulators during my free time), 1gb RAM, SD slot (Must have in my books) and huge battery. Have a year contract left on my Xperia PLAY anyway, I'll see what's on offer then.

The biggest advantage in tegra 3 is that its a standard platform as has games made for it, it is faster the the One S in some applications, but with benchmarks most are made for a specific device and are not always unbiased with the results. I dont think any of the phones will feel slow though so i dont actually think in real world you would be dissatified with any of them.

Like when you said storage didn't matter: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21796222&postcount=2282 :p

Hehe, no, it's entirely up to you of course. It's not as if you are stuck with one or the other forever, whichever one you go for.

Yeah storage didn't matter at that time but recently it has as I've started playing music on the walks home from work, as mentioned above^

Edit*

IF
The One X is closer to £400 come end of May (at present it's £424 on Amazon having just checked) then I will weigh in the pros and cons side by side.

Though saying that, £424 is a considerable price advantage. The storage thing above does still matter but using the hack way to get Google Music does seem to be the best option.

It's not that clear cut..

Depending on benchmark, there is a swings/roundabouts thing for sure.. I notice each comparison uses a subset of chosen benchmarks that favour one over the other on balance..

I know first hand how slightly underwhelming the Tegra 2 was, and don't expect the T3 to be top of the pile either, but reading a few comparisons over the last 2 days, I'd say that the LTE is probably slightly better all round, but it's not a wash..

I'll be intrigued to see the sammy processor inaction, the S2 was a good showing..

I think the phone looks poor and the screen is a disappointment but can somebody let me know why HTC One X is so much better?

My colleague at work has a One X and the screen is definitely amazing and the phone is gorgeous. Even the grey version. Easily on par with (dare I say better) the Lumia phones.

But at the moment what I can see is:

Quad Core for both
1850 mAh non removable battery vs 2100 mAh removable battery
4.7" vs 4.8" (although I'd rather have a slightly smaller screen)
Super LCD 2 vs HD Super Amoled
Non removable storage vs removable storage
Good build quality vs questionable material use (build quality pending)

I rarely purchase my electronics using style over substance. I buy to my spec (hence my ageing and decrepit Milestone) and my needs. Can somebody let me know why the S3 will be such a poor choice to buy?

True all phones are powerful enough for smooth and fast operation, it all just comes down to the drivers and software. But the one S feels the fastest and smoothest out of the box for everything compared to the GN, GS 2 and one X, granted this could change with future updates. And as I said before it isn't just me who thinks this, many people who were going to get the X went for the S due to this as well as other things like size and build quality.

However, it isn't just about performance, but also heat and battery consumption and as has been proven with the XL, it helps the battery life a fair bit when compared to the X.

As for the games, is there not a work around to get those nvidia games working on any device, chainfire or something?
