the Devs themselves said this is a single player game with a fun coop.

Citation needed. Got a link to a dev saying that?

As I understand it the game is balanced for the number of players so that it's an appropriate challenge regardless of how you play..

It's a game that can be played solo, not a single player game. Saying it's a single player game with tacked on 'fun' co-op is just retarded.

quick Q : Does anyone know if this will have activation type DRM stuff as I plan on installing in work also (obviously only to play during breaks/dinners *cough*) :p

Uses BattleNet as far as I am aware so it is linked to your account rather than your PC.

Does it definitely need an always active connection ? I have read numerous reports saying it's just activation but others saying you must be constantly connected ?

You can install it on as many PCs as you want. You're licence is for the Battle.net account.

Always on afaik. Drops are synced with the server to prevent people exploiting and cloning gear.

Yes but it was exactly the same in D2, the only thing that you could do with D2 is play offline but then that was pointless most of the time (unless you had no internet) because you may as well have played online in single player mode so you could use whatever you found when playing online (which was generally the idea anyway).

I don't mind if an online orientated game needs to be online to play, I just don't agree with a game that has no online features requiring an always on connection.

On top of the above, the main reason they will have taken this game online only is because D2 was rife with people who duplicated items and completely wiped out the economy of the game, this was possible because the items and the spawns were client side.

In D3 they have taken these online to put a stop to these.

Even if you do get disconnected it does appear that the game checkpoints at regular intervals so you will not lose much in the way of progress.

I don't understand all the tears about drivers, 12.3's work perfectly fine so don't upgrade them. It quite simple really.

It would be nice if it disconnects it pauses and gives you a few mins to reconnect and carry on as my Virgin media has a habit of just resetting randomly.

If you disconnect, you have a window of time before your character becomes "disconnected", so you'll keep buffs, personal drops etc, and won't count as logged out if you get back in within that window. Though I'm not sure if it applies to SP games.

A lot of people have their drivers set to automatically update, so a lot of AMD users will be on 12.4 without even knowing it.

Also, I like to keep my drivers up to date, as I'm sure most people do, so to find out I can't potentially play D3 on the 15th because of 12.4 is a little annoying.

I would be LIVID if i couldn't play, especially if i was one of those who took a day off work specifically to play a game that's been waited on for too long :p

I have updated to 12.4, i always update a day or 2 after the release of the driver. I hope they can sort it out before release, i doubt they will though. I really hate messing about with uninstalling drivers to rollback. :(

I'm still trying to find a way to roll back. Driver sweeper doesn't work >.<
