Parents irresponsible behaviour, I can't believe it.

Girl could easily have said no presumably. Admittedly her inhibitions would have been lowered... But I know it's the OP's niece, but half of the responsibility here at least stays on the kids to try and behave responsibly.... I don't think I'd have ever considered having sex at that age. IF she chose not to use protection, or try and take some form of protection the next day without a bit of a hint, she's either hugely irresponsible, or just plain naive. Somehow I feel if it were the latter then she wouldn't have had sex in the first place....

I'm not saying the parent should have left alcohol in the house with them, because they shouldn't. Although giving it to her son I think is perfectly allowed, just not perhaps the best parenting...

I feel that giving 18 cans of beer to 3 people of that age is irresponsible, and that is the single issue here. I have no problem with children of that age being given alcohol, I was, as long as it's in a responsible and safe environment. It'll teach them to properly respect it and not try and hide their drinking which will likely damage them.

Them having sex isn't an issue - though, they ought to be old enough to know to use protection. I did.

I don't blame the kids at all really. Kids can be expected to be dumb, even more so when drunk... I'm totally blaming the adult who organised, funded and let it happen.
 
lol people claiming the woman who bought them beer knew they would have sex... what a joke.

i dont condone buying alchohol for children but the most she would have expected is for them to get drunk.....

How did she let it happen? They clearly wanted to have sex, otherwise they wouldn't. Plus, 2 teenage boys and a teenage girl together? You're extremely naive if you think they are playing with Barbies (unless, that is the niece's name...).

It's better for people to have sex in a safe environment, rather than down the park bushes. Sex should be spoken about openly, and when (not if) the kids decide to do it they should be permitted to do it indoors, in a safe place, with the access to condoms. When me and my girlfriend were having sex her mother gave us a massive box of condoms she'd pinched from her work. My parents always offered to buy me condoms when we were shopping. They permitted sex under their roof because they knew if they didn't we'd end up doing it somewhere else and would likely not take precautions. Plus, the sex would be awful. The upshot of this? I've never had a 'scare' or any other problems.

Like anything, teach people to respect it and understand it and they will. Taboo'ise it and they will go out of their way to get their hands on it, and likely do it wrongly which will cause harm.
 
Jeeze, that woman is barely fit to be considered a parent, IMO.

Similarly, though, the young girl in question really should have known better if she's as smart and respectful as you say. You don't get double-teamed and say nothing about it after a few beers unless you're really feeling up for it, tbh.
 
13 is very young. I blame television!

I had a 15 yr old come onto me whilst she was drunk, worst part was she was forcing me to drink and i was 25 at the time. Creepy/

You make it sound like this was an obvious, unavoidable course of events - give 13 yr olds beer and they go at it like rabbits. Frankly I was brought up better than that.

The mother is irresponsible but they're all as stupid and low class as each other, the girl and the boys are clearly no innocent cherubs and the mother is just trash.

They are too young to have consensual sex. It is legally impossible for them to have consensual sex, as they are below the age of consent (it's called that for a reason).

Whilst the mother may not be charged with anything (unfortunately), the 3 teens have actually committed statutory rape.

Not 100% sure but I don't think this is the case. However there would be little chance of a prosecution as it is in nobodies interest to charge a bunch of children with rape.

im 99.9% sure its called 'underaged sex' and not rape. it still carries a custodial sentance (but rarely dished out) but is not classed as rape.

Pretty sure he means consensual in terms of willingness, not legal responsibility.

What on Earth?

Why does having sex at that age mean that they had a poor upbringing, are stupid and low class? I had sex at 13, my parents weren't irresponsible in the slightest, I come from a middle class family, went to one of the best schools in Scotland, yadda yadda. It's your outdated, ignorant views which result in so many teenage pregnancies and the like. If people stopped treating sex as some sort of massive taboo never to be spoken about, then people would make sensible, informed choices and not shy away from speaking to their parents about it. Combine this with the easy access to condoms in the home, from responsible parents, and you will lower the teenage pregnancy rate/rising STI rates.
