***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

We have been able to wirelessy media stream flawlessly since the GS 2! :p

But point 1 and 3 are true and great features for real world stuff, although I get very good signal strength for wifi with my One S everywhere in my house and this is with a virgin superhub router........

Oh of course, I stream 1080P to my phone over the network just fine at home! But I can't make full use of my 50Mb (soon to be 120) cable broadband as it maxes out at 33Mbps on the S2 :p

*Edit Not that 33Mb is slow...heh.

Aslong as the screen is bright - i.e.minimum 350cd/m2 then the screen will be awesome. The Pentile screen of the Galaxy Note @ 285ppi is awesome as is - this should be better.

The toss up between the screen on the One X and S3 will be down to personal preference - and on here it's who can shout louder. Everyone I have shown the S2 screen to prefers the colours of SAMOLED over any LCD - and they think the S2 is really sharp. The general public will not notice Pentile - and it will sell just like the S2 did.

People saying the screen is a step down from the Nexus - troll.

I have to agree, my screen is way better then my gf's Iphone4 which is supposed to be higher res.

I wonder if the S-Voice and movable video player will become available on the note when we get upgraded to ICS

I wonder. It should all come to the Galaxy S II as well...

I think that - like Apple - they'll hold features back to keep the S3 more appealing.

Why do you stream 1080p to your phone at home? Can you not just turn on the TV?

I usually watch TV shows/movies in bed before nodding off. It's perfectly fine for that so to answer your question as to why? Because I can.

When lying in bed it is useful! :p

More so for watching TV shows on the mobile though, not films as obviously that is what the big TV or my monitor with a good sound system is for :p

Also great for streaming your films etc. on your PC hard drive to the big TV down stairs with ease via MHL cable.

What?

I've discussed the bummed out points on things I (and others) was expecting but that's that, we can't change that now so why should I and others not put focus on what good things it actually does have?

What point is this thread then if everyone is just moaning about not having high expectations met?

Logical much?

A post of bummed outness, hundreds of posts of metaphorical bumming.;):p

Look, Im not trying to kick up too much of a fuss, was just getting bored of the blinkered standpoint, will leave you alone.

I have an S2 on a 12 month contract, 6 months in. The remaining 6 months total £180 and I can trade in the handset for £210-230 meaning I could leave my contract now cost free. This would allow me to take out a new 24 month contract for either the one x or S3.

Does this make any logical sense? Would I be better off doing this or waiting for my contract to be up in 6 months.

Any more thoughts on this?

Sorry but I'm not one of these people who continuously moan about being let down. I see something that didn't quite meet an expectation but still has its own high merits and deal with it and then move on focusing on the good stuff.

I see no logic in moaning about phone xyz being better because it met expectations accordingly.

I don't just do it with technology, it's just the way I am, yeah maybe an optimist at heart but without optimists this World would be a rather bland place.

I think they have had it for a long time, even the SGS but as usually they didnt really advertise or show the feature off enough. Unlike apple who advertise the **** out of there stuff, this is 1 thing everyone seems to always fail on.

With DLNA/AllShare, can you display a video to an external device that is streaming off the net (i.e, youtube) ?

If you are implying Im continuously moaning about being let down, Im certainly doing no such thing. Its a decent handset with nigglingly annoying issues - it could have been so much more.

I see no logic in continually bigging it up (conversely continually doing it down), lets have some open minded realism. Then again this is an internet forum, what am I saying!;) Its all cool though, soz I dont want to harass.

I dont want to argue. asl?:p

A bunch of real world applications really, chief of which is sending files to and from your phone and PC. I saw it like this:

1: Currently at 65Mbps (the S2) you can transfer files to it at around 3-3.5MB/sec. With bonded channels that's 6-7MB/s so a considerable boost meaning no more need to use a USB cable for a lot of people. Maybe more if you have a 5GHz router (maybe?!).
academically I think that's it's main virtue, if you are constantly transferring hundreds of MB's very often, the more speed the merrier!

2: Media streaming wirelessly (shown already yesterday demos :p).
3MB/s is ~30Mbits/s that's a lot for even 1080p material. I'd say it's more the fringe reception areas and sustaining a decent bitrate, all my HD TV Shows are around 8mbps, I have zero issues streaming on all my handheld devices (that can play 1080p)..

3: Stronger WiFi reception.
Kind of, it won't extend the range, it will give a boost to the speed when connected..

ANd I suspect running 2 radios simultaneously will be battery heavy..

It's a nice feature, but it's real world usefulness is of course going to be marginal, lets hope it catches on in more phones though, we should always be moving on..

Well it looks fab and the features are great. The screen is spot on.

Will definitely be replacing the iphone for this. Being able to add storage and actually drag and drop files to and from the phone - what a relief! Shame I have to wait till July!
