Consultation on internet adult content measures

It should be the parents responsibility to control their children but they can't be around them 24/7 and I think the government think that adults with children are irresponsible this I guess is why filters need to be in place at a higher level.

It's about protecting the innocent. This includes piracy.

There's already ways to block adult content. Why should there be an opt-in for most people because of a few lazy parents?

under the bill payers age / responsibilities. Not sure their aims are teenagers but someone somewhere has to take action.

Most parents aren't going to do it.

Because there isn't a reason to take action.
Does pornography cause harm to the vast majority and are there any long term harm to teenagers? Nope
It might make them perceptions false but that's not a long term impact is it?

Having a false perception of something doesn't help anyone. There's a reason.... someone needs to be responsible for children and most parents aren't been responsible. It doesn't have to be just about porn filtering. Many things online children are curious so it's about protecting them.

Think how long that perception lasts for, not very long and it doesn't do any harm in that time either anyway.
We all have false perceptions, they are everywhere in society.

You don't see porn movies with a PG rating on it do you? Lets just let them go to the cinema and watch it shall we?

In the comfort of ones home the Internet Technologies makes it easier to view something that could offend people.

Lets forget about the ones who want to sit whack off been a dirty old men, teenagers e.t.c Think about children.

Just because you don't get any no need to bash your keyboard at other OcUK's.

I'm glad you appear to have such intimate knowledge of my sex life. I'm sure my wife will appreciate that she doesn't get any. :D

We seems to have similar views so no offense intended :p

None taken. However I find at times that I'm coming dangerously close to shouting at people who don't get it. Also getting annoyed at the conspiracy nut jobs as they're almost as bad.

Only a very small percentage of %age of children watch porn, as they are usually not even aware of it.
The vast majority of this policy is going to effect teenagers.
Porn may upset children and that's why I feel the rating should stay in place but I don't think there would be any harm relaxing nudity regulations though.
Thing is though, you think children watch porn all the time. They don't. And if parents are having trouble where their kids are going on porn sites, they can just install software but I think this is very very rare.

Exactly. Punish the masses for the irresponsibility of the few.

It's not a few though is it.... Most adults won't know where to start! Except remove technology from their children.

Google "website filtering software" or "how to set restrictions on <insert smartphone model here>"

Not rocket science is it? Also parents give kids smartphones to shut them up long before they're really old enough to have them.

This is an education problem trying to be solved via a broken technological solution conveniently wrapped under the guise of child protection. It's disgusting political manoeuvring.

I completely agree with this measure. Children should not be viewing porn. I was exposed to it aged 10 and to be honest I wish I hadn't been. Our culture has become far too sexualised and it is damaging the development of our children. I have been reading "what is happening to our girls?" and it makes for a scary read.

Go in your local shopping centre with a questionnaire and come back with the results. You will be surprised how many parents can't even do this.

Education problem, says you who says parents gives a smartphone wide open to children that could be doing anything on it.... very responsible as a parent that isn't it? Just to shut them up.... nice responsibility.
