Microsoft SkyDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox?

I use Dropbox for pretty much everything. I've installed Google Drive (5GB) and SkyDrive (25GB) but I've yet to decide what to actually use them for and yet to properly use them to give an opinion on them.

With Dropbox, I've got around 35GB for free through referals and various beta / offers they've ran, so plenty of space there for me.

I do keep personal information / documents on my Dropbox, but anything private like that is encrypted using BoxCrytor, so Dropbox don't and will never have any kind of access to those, nor will anyone else (assuming the password you use is strong enough).

Alternatively, you could create a TrueCrypt container but SkyDrive and Google Drive may have problems syncing this at this stage (works fine with Dropbox).

I may end up using Google Drive and SkyDrive as back ups for my personal documents (encrypted, obviously).

In 1999, there was a service called X Drive. It was 1GB of online storage (a lot back then), which was mappable as a drive letter in My Computer.

I know that The Cloud has been a buzz word in recent years, but is there any difference between X Drive and cloud computing? Like, how do you upload/download? Is it through My Computer? Or Photobucket? Or more like FTP?

Always used dropbox but found that increasing capacity is expensive (I am not prepared to refer people etc.. to get extra space). Went for Google drive and got 25gb storage for $2.49...

Shame they didn't do a comparison of upload/download speeds.

I have seen that article, and that is a shame really. To me it's quite important!

But you could use SkyDrive and pay nothing a month? :)

I really need to start using dropbox more - so much more convenient than using a USB stick....

Yer it has completely replaced my memory stick :) The only problem for me is when I have software programs etc and things get a little more trickier.

I think there is an unofficial program that can be installed on a USB so that dropbox can sync with it. Not sure where SkyDrive and Google Drive stand on this!

is it possible to have google drive for 2 accounts acessible on the one PC
I have google drive for my main Gmail account and Sky drive for my main hotmail

But I have other Hotmail and gmail accounts I would like to access from the windows explorer...is this possible?

EDIT: Is it possible to map the drive so I can see it in "my computer"

Ignore my last point aboiut mapping...Managed it now.

Would be cool to be able to map drives to multiple accounts though...anyone managed this?

I'm hoping that more Android apps start supporting Drive, but I suppose it's inevitable that they will.

Dropbox is just far too expensive for extra storage, I doubt they will be able to keep those high prices up for too much longer now that cheaper solutions are popping up.

Not really. Dropbox doesn't have to engage in a 'race to the bottom' just because that's the road others have taken. Also, at least for the moment, Dropbox is the biggest player in iOS, and can thus keep prices higher due to the more affluent nature of that market.

If anything 'forces' Dropbox to lower their prices it will be iCloud.

Keep prices higher due to the affluent nature of the market? I'm not so sure about four times higher. Even iOS users will find the below price difference hard to swallow.

Drive 100GB - $4.99/month
Dropbox 100GB - $19.99/month

Using dropbox as i got 25gb free as part of my HTC One X plus i have the app on my One X so use it a lot to upload pics, videos and documents.

no offence but the whole "apple users are rich" thing is ********.

Nearly everyone i know with a smart phone has an iphone and they aren't rich at all. iphones are now the mass market not the niche.
