Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 8th May 2012]

You want Vermaelen to leave because he's had a little bad patch? Are you ******* joking?

:o

He actually has a pretty bad game a bit too often, but is exceptionally good VERY often also. However his biggest problem is that he's missed near enough 40% of the games since he joined Arsenal, one entire season and several other small spells. I'd give it another season but unless its a near uninjured season I wouldn't keep him.

I've just had a look at the table and if Arsenal drop points here its going to make for a great weekend's football next weekend

West Brom will be a tough game, Hodgson's last game in charge, England manager, players like him, fans love him, home game and they are determined to give him a good send off.... and Arsenal bottle everything for the past 5 years....

They should have had at least one penalty in this game also, becoming a joke. Classic Arsenal performance, **** midfield response to a situation results in goal, stupid keeper, ridiculous injury out of nothing, terrible performance after scoring, most of our midfield being shocking, losing to a poor team who were so bad they made Suarez look prolific last week.....

If I was RVP I would be off in the summer.

I would aswell, however he does seem to want to stay, of course, that could be anything from just not wanting to upset fans, to encouraging both a bigger offer for Arsenal and a bigger wage to "tempt" him to leave.

Who knows these days, I said 5 years ago, he's top notch, he's scoring more but playing less good football because that is what the team wants of him right now. He always did play and seems to prefer to play the withdrawn striker/playmaker. He fully deserves to win titles with a top team, wouldn't remotely begrudge him going to a top team to win things.

Cesc/RVP wanting to leave to win things I can understand, support and have no bitterness about. You know there is a problem when Denilson begged to leave because he was bored at Arsenal being rubbish.......

Nice to see Lambert learn from his mistakes against Liverpool by starting with Holt & Hoolahan(who have both scored already..) and leaving Ward on the bench. Usually we create tons of chances, don't score any and get caught when pushing too hard so hopefully now we have scored a couple that won't happen.

Yup, look at Nasri, left and in a battle to win the Premiership, how old is RVP now into his 30s?

jesus, another huge chance for Norwich, fantastic from Kos but again, they were attacking, where the ******* hell was our midfield. Yet again with an attack coming Song/Ramsey/Rosicky were no where to be seen, at all.

Our midfield is shockingly awful, Song shouldn't be a footballer, he's again done his defensive midfield appearance which involved no defending at all, and constantly trying throughballs which have all gone no where so far as per usual.

Arteta has covered Song's ass all year, WIlshire/Cesc did it last year, Cesc/Nasri the year before, Song is awful and the biggest problem in the team, always has been.

Also, why on earth didn't Holt play against Liverpool(did he come on really late?) he's a beast, has terrorised every defence this year, is a goal scorer, but he's not just a header/battering ram, passing is good, he plays other people in, holds it up, his movement is great. He is actually a very decent player... with zero pace, and still causing all sorts of problems.

I'm sure there's stats but without Arteta lately we've looked like a bunch of see you next tuesdays in midfield.

I think i read we haven't won a single game he hasn't played in... not 100% sure but a daunting statistic if true

Here we go : Arsenal have still not won a league game without Mikel Arteta (7 games, 3 draws, 4 losses), compared to 69% win rate with him.

A quick Google seems to confirm that, lolz. I feel that if we can equalise we can go on to win, but I started watching at about 1pm and there's barely if any shots on target. Pathetic.
