Well one thing is for certain, the back can easily be replaced by a 3rd party manufacturer with an aluminium/carbon case, that makes the entire back 100x more amazing unlike on the S2 where only the battery cover itself is transformed.
I don't know if there will be a teardown of the GS3 but if there is then that will show how easy the casing is to open up but looking at the shell design it looks pretty straight forward and put together in 3 pieces much like some of those older Sony Ericsson phones with a sandwich shell where components stay on the middle section and you simply replace the front and back.
I smell a lucrative market for the likes of CaseMate etc!
