Guild Wars 2

I have prepurchased and have played nearly all the MMO's that have launched since WoW having played that at a decent level for 5 years, IMO Rift is the one thats been closest to full game that was enjoyable.
I played the beta weekend and my views were very mixed, horribly frustrated at the servers being up and down and having a hard time even getting online and then the experience being laggy when I was online. Then when I did get on it looked very nice and flowed nicely I tried 4 or 5 professions out tho never really got past level 7 on any of them.
I found myself getting a little bored at around 7 on each character , which I didnt expect but I put this down to having lost a lot of my patience trying to log in for so long.
There seems to be a huge amount to this game and a lot to try and play and relearn for the most part for an experienced MMO player, I think it is going to require some patience to start with and I will also say I was levelling solo as my guild mates were spread and off and online a lot due to the server stability issues.
I believe it has been designed to be a group levelling experience and am looking forward to the next Beta weekend when i can hopefully test out more.

Overall I would say the first Beta weekend has left me not as impressed as I hoped I would be but having seen enough to want to find out more.

I understand its a Beta event before anyone piles in to tell me this in relation to the server stability and issues. It doesnt change the fact huge amounts of people will have paid the 50 pounds pre purchase to get into the Beta, when the game is sold like this then it cannot be judged soley as Beta I dont think as they are effectively selling Beta slots.

Hopeful for more from GW2!

I felt the same in all honesty Wodgah, on the friday I was getting very frustrated and ticked off at the instability of the servers and not being able to log in at all.

By about 11pm a majority of the issues were gone, I could log in ok, but it was a bit laggy, on the Saturday though it was a totally different experience, lag was gone and I could login easily without issue.

As I played I got to around level 7-9 and felt a little let down, but as I played I learnt new things, discovered various new events and unlocked the trait system, but the late teens I was really enjoying the game, and by the time beta ended, I was level 25 and had played around with the crafting system which I really enjoyed.

Over all though my experience was great, If the game were to release now as it is, I would happy with it, but if they do the things they say they are then it will be amazing.

Arenanet are going to be disabling every key sold by CJS, Gaile Gray said to get them refunded.

Really?
I sent a message to ANEt and Im still awaiting my reply.
Sent a message to CJS who confirmed 100% was a UK key and the not being able to access EU billing options in the account section was a game bug, and linked me to an official thread.

Can anyone post a link to the forum/comment from the Official Anet channels that indicates all keys from CJs are being disabled?

Thanks :)

I love it when people say "I understand it's a beta event" then go on to prove they don't understand it in the slightest!

Scratch my above request just foudn the thread from Bhavv over at the GW2 site.
HAve requestedrefund and linked CJs to the thread.

The last one I got was the explanation of the gemstore bug, they didnt even advise me of the non functioning "work around".

Was there any confirmation of wherer they got their keys or is it a case of just ANet not liking that CJs were able to undercut them?

If you paid with Paypal dispute it right away.

Has anyone had Arenanet get back to them about unlinking the CJS key from Guild Wars 1 accounts?

Nope, still waiting.

It took them 5 days to answer about my first question, which was basically asking if the cdkeys were legit and if they were could they be switched to EU region keys. I got a reply back stating they were looking into it.

I emailed them with an update before my first reply stating i'd got a refund and i wanted the key taken of my account so i could repurchase and re-link again. I am still waiting 4-5 days later.

I wouldn't they got arsey with another member on these forums because he disputed, if he just messages them they will do it a lot quicker. I think the other guy only got his done after he dropped the dispute, until then they refused to help him as he had opened a dispute.

I'm waiting for the same answer I did update them on the 3rd with info about the dispute though and asked for a response. All I got was "Vance" telling me someone will look into this for me.

I'd dispute it again if I had to. They missold a product Paypal don't take kindly to that sort of thing, if they were arsey with you just escalate it.

I got the same but with someone named Luis, saying they need more time to look into it. Shame they replied to an older question and not my updated one from a day before hand, it was sent under the same support number.

Yeah i understand that, i just went through CJS and got my refund within 10-20 minutes. I just didn't feel the need to go through paypal unless i had to.

I didn't get any arsey comments from them but this guy did, he asked them to process his refund due to the dispute to which they replied "you opened a dispute, you deal with paypal and not us now. if you decide to deal with us, drop the dispute and we will sort it out".

He dropped it and got a refund within 10 minutes.

There was some talk that Cj's had bought keys from a supplier that had used stolen credit cards, I'm not sure if that ended up being 100% true or not?

I don't think personally Cj's themselves are "dodgy", I DO think they come across like this because of the way they deal with things and are not very organised, to say the least. This was shown by the range of initial responses in email to the whole GW2 shenanigans.

In the end they gave me an refund, but only after I opened a Paypal dispute - they were biding their time and messing me around. I also think that their automated system needs sorting, selling keys and then finding out they need to wait for stock is not really on.

This said, I've used them in the past without problems and recently got a Tera EU key from them, which is absolutely fine and completely legitimate. They need to sort themselves out.

Maybe you misunderstood what I said , or maybe you chose to ignore it so you could make your post and feel superior.

When you have to pay to play a Beta it stops being a Beta test as is normally the case , or perhaps you had trouble understanding this concept ?

Well yes and no, you have paid for the full game, not solely to get into the beta. Those that commit get invited to participate in the beta. There is no single transaction that just gets you into the beta. So its still a beta whatever way you put it.

You are not paying to get into the beta, if you pre-purchase the game you get beta access thrown in. It wasn't just people who bought the game that got into the beta, people who signed up for a chance at beta access got in aswell.

It might still technically be a beta, but I can't help but feel it's a little scheme to make money out of hype, and pin the blame for any problems on "it's a beta". Don't get me wrong, I'm not slating it, I've pre-purchased, I loved what I played of the beta and I can't wait for more, but it's still a teensy bit underhanded, if you ask me ;) For example, if the beta had been free, and open to everyone, I imagine they'd have had less sales than they will with the current model, but, they would have had more feedback and testing than currently - it makes you wonder what the aim of it all was :p
