I know I've certainly discussed this with a few people now, and I'm wondering whether OcUK agrees....

Will this be the greatest Summer of Films we have ever had?

I've no doubt missed a few (and in no particular order):
The Avengers

The Dark Knight Rises

The Hunger Games

Prometheus

Battleship

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Expendables 2

Men In Black 3

The Dictator

Snow White and the Huntsman

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Wrath of the Titans

The Bourne Legacy

Madagascar 3

Ice Age 4

Taken 2 & Les Miserables
No trailers as of yet.

To be honest, this seems like the greatest summer, I've ever seen personally. I could happily go to the cinema every week and watch a film worth seeing.

not sure if serious.... some of those films are damn awful..

Or not released in summer, for that matter.

and the bourne film isnt even a true bourne film?

Because it doesn't star Damon and is based on another author's book?

I still think it can turn out pretty well.

For me it's:

1) The Hobbit (albeit not Summer)
2) The Dark Knight Rises
3) Prometheus
4) The Avengers
5) Men in Black 3
6) The Expendables 2

Don't have high hopes for the others, to be honest.

so why call ir a bourne film if its not anything to do with the authors books?

its just a cheap way to cash in on the bourne series

The Avengers

This was great.

The Dark Knight Rises

Am really not as excited about this as I thought I would be, I think I may actually be bored of Batman.

The Hunger Games

Ahahahahaaa...surely you aren't serious?

Prometheus

This is the only movie out of the list I would care about if they decided not to release it.

Battleship

Is a fine time waster, nothing more.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah, no thanks, what with them signing off a sequel before the first is released but hiring an entirely new writing team to do it sets of huuuge alarm bells, the fact that Sony Pictures themselves don't seem to be happy with it doesn't help.

The Expendables 2

**** off, just **** off and die, these movies are no better than Fast and the Furious.

Men In Black 3

Eh, looks fairly exciting for what it is.

The Dictator

For the the first time I am interested in a Sacha Baron Cohen film, doubt I will go to the cinema to see it however as I still have my doubts.

Snow White and the Huntsman

Eugh, I would be far more interested in this film if it didn't have Kristen Stewart in it, she does not deserve the attention she gets.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Can't wait for this.

Wrath of the Titans

A terrible sequel to an already terrible film.

The Bourne Legacy

Kinda looking forward to this but only because I think Jeremy Renner is quite promising.

Madagascar 3

Cheap knock off of Ice Age, if that was even possible, standard Dreamworks garbage.

Ice Age 4

Unfortunately for me Ice Age was the animated series I grew out of, its just too childish. (Yes I realise it's a children's film but so is Wall-E, Ice Age just doesn't translate to an adult audience in the same way)

Let's be honest.... Avengers was pretty terrible, I do however want to watch Prometheus since it's the prequel to Alien!
OH and maybe Expendables 2 just for Terry Crews.

Avengers good?!?! The film wasnt given a chnace purely because someone forgot to hire an editor 2hrs 30 mins for that, I'd lost the will to live after the space ship scene :(

Let's be honest.... Avengers was pretty terrible

Good lord there's two of them

As has been said its a little hard to say best summer ever given the likes of the Hobbit aren't released till December but yeah it's shaping up to be a good 2012 for films.

Last year the only film I really had to see straight away was X-Men First Class (although i did go and see Source Code, Adjustment Bureau & Apes as well) and while i enjoyed the likes of Thor and Captain America I don't regret waiting till their blu ray release before seeing them (ironically enough I've not watched the 4 films I did go to see at the cinema once on blu ray yet and yet I've watched Thor and CA 2 or 3 times).

So far this year though Avengers was a must see, I've also gone and seen the new American Pie film and both Spiderman and TDKR will be must see's as well (I can wait for Prometheus). Even those I don't see at the cinema though there's still plenty I'll definitely pickup when they're on general release like Bourne, Snow White, Gangster Squad so yeah good 2012 for films :)

In my book it's probably the best year since sometime in the 80's, i cant remember the last time i went to the cinema 4 times in a year and will probably go back for rewatches!!

Cabin in the Woods
Avengers
Prometheus
Dark Knight

Prometheus is the only one I care about.

I really want The Hobbit to be great, but "I have a bad feeling about this."

Django Unchained isn't until Jan 2013 and with Kurt Russell dropping out as main villain we could be waiting even longer than that!

It looks like a good line up, whether it will be the best ever will take a very long time to establish. In my opinion the title of best year ever is between 1982 and 1994, some highlights:-

1982 - ET, Blade Runner, The Thing, Porkies!, Star Trek 2, Conan The Barbarian

1994 - Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Clerks, The Lion King, Shallow Grave, Dumb and Dumber
