things at work that make you cringe?

There is a guy and girl in my office that flirt quite heavily but think they subtle about it, its quite cringe worthy when it happens.
 
People who:

1) Take everything extremely seriously like their very existence depends on it
2) Can never break a smile
3) Look down at people who make light hearted jokes about things
4) Get stressed over the smallest of things

basically miserable ********
 
Whilst eating your lunch at your desk cos you customer service facing, then your colleague starts to pick their nose as your just biting into your sandwhich

Why TF would they do that?

Maybe they forgot to bring something to eat, so had to get creative.
 
I left my desk for lunch for the first time in probably a month. Stuff breaks and doesn't get fixed until I return. Some miserable !"£$ started complaining. I didn't realise one lunch a month wasn't acceptable :mad:

its why i dont go out for lunch. get back and find that stuff is missing, broken or just not done at all.
 
Planners and engineers with no engineering experience.

They seem to question every part I order from stores, the famous line "do you really need this". My current planner likes to change my orders to cheaper parts, ordered a box of 30 ex rated glands and he changed them to 25 small indoor swa glands because they were cheaper.
They are almost as cringe worthy as the hr girls in charge of ordering stock and services, they love to cancel required parts or services so they look good and don't under sarcasm...
her "Hello mr ******, just looking at your requisition order for the mewp, do you really need this as it £2000 for the week?"
me "Well, the pressure sensor I need to replace is 10 meters in the air"
her "OK, but can't you use a ladder or something".
me "I'm not happy working off a ladder in that area, that's why I wanted to rent a Mewp"
her " well that's not my problem, you can work off the ladder, I'm cancelling the mewp" and hangs up
me......:mad::mad: job still hasn't been done, I pass any complaints to her for blocking mewp for the job

Good old business sense, it wouldn't make the right choice even if there was only one to choose from.

and a complete lack of recognition for 'proper' work whilst giving awards to someone who tidied their store cupboard (truth). In that same month I saved £100k for the company (which is a third of their annual target).

Yep, these so called Engineering excellence programs that are supposed to improve the business have only managed to slow and stop most jobs, making the job stressful because when it stops working, I Have production, plant managers and my boss on my back expecting me to pull a miracle and get the plant running again, nothing like a £100k per hour down cost, to motivate the managers to actually work.

Where I work I get (staff);
'Why doesn't this work'
'Can you fix my home computer'
'Can you speed this computer up'

I like my job but sometimes people get to me that much I get angry and usually go hide somewhere for a while till I calm down. A lot of people don't realise how much work IT Support Staff do no matter how small or how little. Sometimes my job can be extremely taxing and I have to think a lot to solve major issues that doesn't take 5 minuits of my time like some people think it does!

I also get the question 'has it turned up yet'.. I tell them no the order has just been placed... then they say well when will it turn up... I say I'm not too sure should be normally delivery times... then they say ... but I want/need it now because XYZ. Makes me angry this.

Staff also like to think that fixing computers take 2 minuits and they always want it done now. I keep telling people 'no' it's on the list of things to complete. I also hate how people steal your ideas.... very popular where I work so I just keep my mouth shut now.

I also get staff trying to tell me things should be fixed. So usually if they do that I say next time fix it yourself then. Soon shuts them up.

Basically when someone nods, smiles, and agrees about a strategy, plan, or objective, then ignores or goes back on it.

Overall my team are great tho so can't complain/ cringe... Hopefully they think I am great too :D

I dislike dealing with the receptionist or other admin staff in the department. Receptionist is always grumpy, the admin staff are just rude, inefficient and generally useless. Not to mention there's about ten of them doing the same job lol.
 
Managers who over use a certain word. Such as "absolutely".

The IT manager asking a client "is it a PC or a laptop?" I know it's common sense but I don't like bad vocabulary being spread, especially by someone in the IT profession.

One person in the office mumbling to herself quite loudly when it's quite clear that the rest of the office are trying to do their work.

Oh, and the fact that the above colleague has taken a total of 11 weeks' sick pay over the last 12 months. 4 weeks stress, then 2 weeks stress, 1 week tummy bug, 3 weeks bad back (self-inflicted in Zumba class lol) and 1 week with colds. Bit unfair on the rest of us having to pick up her work and no money in the budget for staff cover.
