Who has bought the Nvidia 670 cards

Why would there be brown tape on the box though?

Someone wrapped the box in bubble wrap except the ends.

They then ran brown wrapping tape around the bubble wrap side to side and end to end. The end to end bit went around the ends of the box and stuck to them as they were not covered by bubble wrap.

I successfully peeled the tape off one end as it had no stickers. Phew!

When i tried the other end as soon as i hit the serial number sticker the brown tape rips the sticker off with it.:(

So i now have a serial number sticker which you can read but only through the brown tape. Minor thing but annoying none the less.

Send in a complaint at least so they hopefully don't do that again, I think they might have a new employee who's a bit of a packing noob and needs some more training by the sound of it.

MMh, there was brown tape right over what I presume to be the serial number sticker on mine too. Couldn't read through it, and taking it off ripped off the top right corner of it. What is the important bit, i.e. what format is the serial itself in so I can check that is not damaged.

Don't know which one to go for! really got my mind set on the Asus dc2 but also liking the Gigabyte windforce. Ahh decisions decisions - First world problems and all!

Just need to try and offload my 570 now.

Don't like the idea of brown tape on a manufacturers box, sloppy packing. Agree that people who have received packages this ought to let OCUK know.

None of it is that important, it's the sitcker on the card with the SN (Serial Number) that's important. The box sticker just duplicates this. The warranty isn't for the box. :P

Mine also had some tape, I just lost the Check Number. :)

Also given this is a release day purchase, you couldn't have brought it earlier than today and you have your OC invoice so there shouldn't be any issue with returns/RMA/DSR.

Haha... must have been the same person that did mine, bubble wrap over most of the box, the only place the bubble wrap wasn't was where the brown tape had been smeared over the box... fortunately I didn't actually even think about it and just ripped it off and the box magically remained immaculate. Not that I care about the box though...

I bought the KFA2 OC 670 and well I'm somewhat impressed with it but I haven't had an Nvidia card in a desktop PC since my 7600, I do have a 8600 in my laptop but that doesn't really count does it? Forgive me for being stupid but why doesn't the nvidia control panel have any overclocking functions or temperature/fan control like AMD catalyst has? Or am I missing something...?

Core Boost Clock: 1058MHz but using MSI Afterburner it is showing me it goes up to 1185Mhz without any modification.

Ok. A few questions then while I get to overclocking it. Firstly, what incriment should I increase the core clock and memory by each time? Secondly, any idea why the max I can raise my power limit to is 111%? It seems a little low.

WRT the over enthusiastic use of brown packing tape:

Good afternoon,

Glad you have received your order, I shall pass the details on to the warehouse manager. :)

The warehouse guys will be made aware of our concerns. Hopefully everybody else will get a pristine box and visable serial numbers.:)

Am I the only one who doesn't really "get" this card? I mean, nVidia have basically killed the market for the GTX680. I don't regret mine but if I was buying now, it'd be one of these, all day, every day.

It's a very strange move IMO. They'd have been better putting this between the 7970 and 50 and pricing it to suit.

i dont think they have
remember the 680 is massively overpriced due to demand

the real price should be 380-400 not the 460+ it is currently
the price of the 670 will probably be around 300-320 and im sure there will be loads of people happy to pay an extra ~£80 for a 680 over a 670

Well mine just arrived, and guess what? Brown packing tape slapped right around the box and right over the serial number white lables. Shoddy work. How do you stand if you want to return it under DSR?

It's only a box  is it worth you sending it back at your cost for tape on the box.....

Don't worry mine arrived the same, it peels off the serial number label fine, just peel it back really slow. :)
