***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Galaxy S III vs One X from GSMArena: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_vs_htc_one_x-review-759.php

They couldn't pick a clear winner but as expected the S3 seems to be better if you compare all of the features side by side.

The camera also looks better however the conditions seem to be different (and they said as much) so it's not entirely reliable and zoomed out there's probably little to no difference.

The battery life score:

It keeps in line with the Galaxy S II (though it's not entirely reliable as it factors in things you may never do).

They aren't impressed with the design and feel though (and they actually have one, so no guessing). :(

I'm not making any final decisions yet but I can't see a compelling reason to swap the X. I would if I needed the storage and liked it when I use it... but I don't need more storage, and I still don't like the design all that much.

Exactly what I thought as well.

Not even going to judge the battery life by that either as we all know that their test seems to be completely in accurate for real world usage i.e. S actually gets about 4 hours on average for on screen time at 40% brightness where as the X at best gets about 3 hours 30 minutes on screen time at about 30% brightness with similar usage yet there tests show that the X has better battery life......

Yeah, it's not all that reliable.

However, there are some people over on XDA claiming to have got 5 hours out of the battery with the screen on (non stop), but I think they are just photoshopping their usage. :p

Lol :D

Maybe they actually are........... but with the screen on 0% brightness and wifi plus mobile data connection turned off and are only using there mobile for texts and phone calls! :p :D

You should be able to hit the 5 hour mark easily I would say, especially with airplane mode on, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a "phone" then :p

Also noticed that the audio didn't seem to be as outstanding as what everyone thought/was expecting it to be.......going by what people were saying here and everywhere I thought we were going to be in for a treat with that wolfson DAC audio thing or whatever it is :p or am I missing something or was I just expecting too much? :o :p

Yeah, I thought it would be best in class but by the sound of it the One S is still winning there.

The X is surprisingly good though so if it's better than that it should be pretty decent.

This phone pretty much sums up my main gripe with Android now. I love the extra features Samsung have put into the firmware such as tapping the phone to jump straight to the top of a list view and putting the phone to your ear to call a contact you're currently viewing.

Yet I hate the look of of anything other than stock Android 4.0!

Yes a lot of these features may be ported to AOSP based firmware but you're gambling on that being the case and the wait for it to be implemented and stable.

Still umming and arghing about what to do

Don't need a new phone, but I do want unlimited 3 data. I am kind of worried that if I stay on PAYG it might stop. Also it is way cheaper than anything else

If I liked either phone I would definitely do it.

Bit of a predicament

hey guys, anyone who pre ordered it on cpw managed to change their tariff? i picked the orange one and got the free tablet but want to change it to 3 for the unlimited data but am in the states so cant phone them!

I'm glad how dark the blue is on the front:

Sooooo going to snap on a black back asap. Too bad about the rim :(

And I love the video playback results for the battery. I use my phone mainly for watching vids and surfing so 10hr+ screen on time is amazing. That'll do Galaxy, that'll do. :D

WWWWWWWWWWAY better video, better camera, better audio, none of that Beats Audio ****, significantly better battery life, expandable storage, SAMOLED display with better sunlight legibility, Exynos SOC >>>>>>> than Tegra 3. The 5th core is dead.

Now imagine when the Voodoo Audio is installed on the SIII, the Audio will be even better.
