You quoted 'thatasianguy' who refered to the prejorative of Pakistani.....

Even given the wider South Asian community, given the influx of Eastern Europeans I suspect while the population has gotten significant larger, the percentage is fairly static overall....

well yeah but he quoted cheets, just because he chose to change Asian to "PAKIZ" din;t suddenly mean cheets was saying 6% of the population were from Pakistan did it?

guess we'll see the % wqhen the data fro mthe 2011 census is out.

Funny how you seem to think that the government want to turn you against immigrants, when they're the ones with the capability to do something about it.

it's GD, general discussion the intended purpose of the section is to talk **** at each other to fill time that we'd otherwise have to use in a productive way and frankly that sounds like a far more troublesome alternative.

No, but it might have been helpful to quote Cheets as well, or explain that was who you were refering to.

However, to further support your and cheets figures, I found an article that states that the Asian population of England and Wales is 5.87%. The data is dated 2010.

5.87 is pretty close, i was sure i had heard about six before.

I don't think to reference cheets but I thought it would have been obvious given thatasianguys post and the quote in it.

Probably not the best attitude but it certainly seems an easier fix.

yes there are natives who do terrible things but we don't really have the option of stopping them being here before they do anything.

If we had it so that to get here you needed to be coming in as a skilled employee of a major company that procures your visa for you (because they cannot fill the role with a suitable native candidate) and any crime = straight back wherever you came from and we turned down all asylum-seekers saying they can claim asylum in France or whatever EU country they last came from and send them back to that.

yes we'd lose a lot of good people but arguably we'd not let in a lot of the bad too.

The more stuff like this seems to come out the more and more the "don't let them in" ideology seems to make sense.

I'm not normally one of the "send them back brigade" but there is a sort of easy comfort in the "keep them out" philosophy given recent events.
