Is The GTX670 actually worth the money

You could potentially oc a 670 to compare with a stock 680 but then you could oc a 680 and make that even better so it's just depends what you wanna pay

Check some of the benchmark threads ;)

It depends really, the stock 670's don't seem up to much OC wise, you may be very lucky and squeeze 1200mhz out of one. The windforce seems to pretty much near guarantee 1250 to 1350mhz, which is ~£55 more than the ref card, or up-to a ref 680 which is another ~£50 on top of the windforce.

If your going to go cheapest reference card, you might as well pony up for a 680, if you want custom cooled I'd go for the 670 Windforce.

The KFA2 EX OC already gives GTX 680 stock performance out of the box, overclock the 680 and it performs better. But the gigabyte is a much better card.

But a GTX 670 clocked 100 MHz higher than a 680 performs the same.

Just for fun, did some quick googling.

seems the 470 was 299 on release, same as the 570.

why is the 670 now 360 ish?

are we just getting milked this gen? :p or would anyone like to predict a trend for increasing tech prices in future? maybe the 770 will be £400? :p

ah yes I forgot that in a recession everything gets more expensive (which seems backwards when you think about it).

not sure why you think nV is increasing its customer base with more expensive products, however.

AMD 7970 price gouging and being bad for its price, thats why.

It's the debasing of country's economies affecting the strength of their currency against other currencies and goods/resources- higher inflation = higher prices.

Nono you misunderstand me, admitted in a recession there's less people buying high end gaming gear but there's more people building themselves and information on building a new rig has never been more available = more of a customer base than nvidea has to sell too so they can raise their prices.

Although arguably to an outsider, with so many cards already on the market, is the market not already saturated, hence the 6month rapid drop in prices for most cards/ new tech

inflation would only account for ~£15 more on a product costing £300 in 2010, maybe a nice way to cover price hikes (jus look at food prices)

maybe the architecture genuinely costs more but at the end of the day there are people who will pay a premium to have it now. this is demonstrated across the board with technology in general every 6 months a new phone, every 9 months a new ipad etc etc the industry has cottoned on to the fact that enough will pay and prices can be dropped as required to stimulate the market without overtly effecting margins.

Why is the Gigabyte better? Overclocks better than the KFA2?
