Gaming Monitor - What Size?

then as i originally said a 27 with as high a res as you can get.

If you have a GTX 680 then you should really go 27" imo. As others said the extra resolution is very nice, but also consider that having a bigger screen makes everything so much more "immersive" (even if you scale it down to 1080p) during gaming, you are much more "into the action". I used to play games on a 23" but give me 27" now any day...

I have to agree with Craarc.
27" is an absolute must. I could never go back to a 24.
I'm using a Hanns G HZ281 at the moment (27.5" at 1920x1200) and I'm very happy with it. I use it primarly for gaming. I did upgrade to a Hazro HZ27WC (27" at 2560x1440) last month which looked fantastic for 3 weeks.... before it died. I'm just waiting for a refund and then I will look at a Dell U2711 or maybe wait a few months to see whether any new IPS screens appear.

Because you can't game on dual monitor? It's got a massive bezel right down the middle then, it's one or three.. or if you got a lot of money and space six.

untill we get flexible monitors ala wrap around i wont accept a bezel in the way id rather go for a decent high res single screen

the stick on screens are good for tv etc that you can put on a window an stuff but i wouldnt accept the quality of the current ones for gaming etc..

Depends how close you are to your desk, if like me the monitor is within arms reach of you then I'd suggest a 24" monitor. I've tried 27" and it strains my eyes because the picture is too big relative to distance from me to the monitor.

i think that may depend on the res mine is just over arms length and i dont have any issues like that

but again its down to what suits each individual and we all have diferent perspectives and sight etc so its not a one size fits all scenario tbh

I sit at arms length (well plus about 2") from my 27" screen and I don't find it strains my eyes or I have to scan across the screen (2560*1440) but my eyesight is pretty rubbish for the most part so perhaps if I could actually see worth a **** then it might be different :)

Yeah the Samsung S23A700D 23" was too small for me, gutted really, it felt like I was using a non-widescreen 19" TFT all over again. :(

I would love to try a 27" @ 1920x1080 but I think I would be disapointed i.e. chunky pixels, especially coming from 24" @ 1920x1200. :(

TFT technology is ****, I've waited 3 years and all we have is high res 27" @ 2560x1440 60Hz or chunky pixel 27" @ 1920x1080 120Hz. :(
