Gaming Monitor - What Size?

Yeah the Samsung S23A700D 23" was too small for me, gutted really, it felt like I was using a non-widescreen 19" TFT all over again. :(

I would love to try a 27" @ 1920x1080 but I think I would be disapointed i.e. chunky pixels, especially coming from 24" @ 1920x1200. :(

TFT technology is ****, I've waited 3 years and all we have is high res 27" @ 2560x1440 60Hz or chunky pixel 27" @ 1920x1080 120Hz. :(

yer you would a 27 @ 1080 for me would be far to chunky tbh.

24 at 1200 is nice thats a really nice combo imo.

hi res 1440 is the way forward not to big but nice res.

bring on 1440 120hz thats my next big one i think or god forbid 1600p at 120 hz cant think of the cost of that just yet

Well 3 years have gone by, I'll just have to be patient and wait abit longer, I am sure they will come out eventually maybe within a year hopefully. :(

ive found a 30" 1600p 120hz monitor for 600 quid thread, it may just be a record breaker

I highly recommend a wireless keyboard and mouse and to sit about 4 ft away from ....a 1080p 47 inch. Immersion is great !

Saves room on having a monitor and looks a lot neater having all your hardware in one place.

If you're spending all that money on sli 680 it would be a crime not to go with a high res 27" monitor.

27" for me anything less is too small now, high res or 120hz will come down to preference, im in the 1080 120hz camp and whilst some will say 27" is too big for 1080 i think its perfect, why not order a 27" 1080 and if you dont like it send it back under dsr and then try a 2560x1440

A 24 inch screen will be ideal for me for when I do upgrade, more so as I play Quake and other fast FPS games. I think 27inch would be too big, giving me headaches and what not. Saying that, my old 19inch Iiyama VM Pro 454 was the perfect size for FPS games.

It's actually going to be called the S27B970D - just thought I'd clear that up as Samsung have royally confused people about that. Popping the monitor into their 'Series 9' range alongside the SA950 did probably throw a few people too. Alas the current PLS technology lacks the keen responsiveness needed for 120Hz to work properly just like IPS. Maybe we'll see some improvements over the 8 series in this regard that would be nice progress anyway.
