iRacing

someone rammed me out at the start on lime rock (i was halfway around the first corner sticking to 71mph which is about as fast as you can take it, i just reach the apex and someone rams me from behind that must have been doing like 90mph :O)

i thought i would do the decent thing after that seeing as my race was over and make sure anyone lapping me can have an easy pass, so im going down the main straight at about 110mph so someone 1.5seconds behind me can have an easy pass before all the twisty bits..... booom straight into my rear end.....

nice started 3rd
finished 3rd
:D
was so close to over taking the 2nd place guy on lap19 but i pushed to hard and caught my rear wheels on the grass so went for a spin :(

@arknor nice 3rd mate, you was lucky towards the end there loosing it over the hill, next time you have 8+ seconds over the guy behind you going into the last laps take it easy.

From ghosting with you, the turn into the hill dont brake as much and make sure your on that throttle mid corner to balance the car.

the last bend also not quite sure where you going wrong there but I was killing you down the straight. I lift personally just a tad on entry to make the car turn in then plant it holding 100-103mph through there.

i try to hold at 100mph into the last corner and then full throttle but i think i change gear a tad early
next time you have 8+ seconds over the guy behind you
he was lapped :D
the 4th place guy finished 33 seconds behind me ;)

im still learning the track though before the change last week my fastest lap on lime rock was only around 1:03-1:03.05

btw whats your entry speed into the corner at the hill? i always rub the break to about 90mph but i think i slow down to early, i try to be around 20-50% throttle in every corner to keep the back end from sliding out

88mph-92mph mate, I don't brake there really as it makes the front end dive, I ever so slightly touch the brake just to help the turn in then right before the apex I'm easing the throttle back on.
When I say touch it I mean 5-10% pressure no more and its just a slight touch then I turn in and start to add throttle as I'm unwinding the steering.

If your hitting 90 into I must be getting on the power early compared to you as I was beating you into the next bend that one you looked ok into it to be fair.
16inc's isnt good neither mate bring that down or you be stuck in the wild west and lower splits for ever.

edit if you want to do some laps i have a spare 20 minutes while I wait for tea come join a practice server use the base set and we will do a few laps of LRP, I'm not the fastest guy out there but I'm pretty nifty in the mx5. I can do 59's at LRP and hold a average lap time of 1:00.** over a race.

Hopefully I can help you pick up a bit of speed.

yea im rusty on lime rock and even before the track change i think i only did 5 races on it though lol

i need to work on getting my rating up more than anything so ill care less about where i finish and just do clean laps for a few days.

btw this is the speeds i try to be going into the corners and accelerating through them.

i think my car slides abit on the apex at the last corner though as its not a corner im confident at exiting without completely going over the kerb.
i had big issues with the first corner aswell before this race and often lost 0.5-1second over my personal best there.

but i seem to have been doing okay there the last race

BTW for the hill do you completely lift off the throttle? thats probably why im losing time to you because i tend to lift of the throttle for 1-2seconds. but it seems you can just drop to around 50% throttle and still be ok?

Forget where you finish for now mate *so wish I'd listened to Gravey more at the start on this one* I no its hard, I really couldn't help myself at first either. But placing does nothing for your SR and thats what you need to aim at for now. 0inc finishes to get the big bonus.

START FROM THE PITS!!!!!!!!!!!! best advice anyone as ever gave me on iracing, again cheers gravey xx

Have to hold 5 on the laps Gravey wants me to join radical school session. I'm on all night tomorrow. If i dont get time tonight now.

Dont touch the curb if your hitting the curb it unsettles the car and u run wide onto the dirt out left and kick up all that dust. My helemt was so full of dust after following u round LRP lol

Brake smoothly huge the inside drop down to 3rd mid corner if your in teh cup car and then drive the car out the bend on throttle.

Yes u can just come of the throttle completely that's how I get my fast times, but thats not good in a race as sometimes i loose it over the hill as your on the limit and then some. Just do it how i said your make that hill 99 times out of 100 that way, and its good for a 1minute lap np that way.

Ok so i registered yesterday, started off on the mx5 and this is where i have stayed but i went into options and selected auto clutch (as i find the clutch too hard to use on my g25 - it doesnt feel realistic) but i thought auto blip would still be enabled....

I spent all last night struggling, enabled auto blip back on and im doing much much better. I have only been doing testing but i want to see how fast i am compared to other drivers now. What do you recommend i do? go staight into a race? whats TT? in other words i just want to race against other drivers but dont want to be peanalised?

you could do a online practise session too. the field spread is pretty big in iracing, so dont worry too much. easily 3seconds between aliens and those who arent too quick, often more i think

For the clutch , just go through all normal pedal calibrations pressing the accelerator fully down , and the same for the brake pedal,, but when it comes to pressing the clucth pedal fully during calibration, just press it down like 10-20% then release it,, that way when using the clutch you only have to press it the slightest bit to change gear.

as for racing with others without getting penalized , the closest you can get to this is go to "Events" then select "spectator / ghost sessions" that way you can race on the same track as others , and see them ,, but they cannot see you but you can see them ,, and neither of yous can make contact with each other. and if you make mistakes it does not affect your ratings

Ok thank you for that ill try that in calibrations.

I went online after in a practice session with a couple of guys, was averaging around the 1:03-1:05 mark on lime rock park, but by god this game is difficult!!! Think ill keep on racing and practicing but its quite enjoyable this is :)

Keep at it mate. At the start i was drving off at every bend, locking up the brakes. Think it took me a good half hour to actualy get round the track. Also when you come to racing aim just to finish. I promise you just by averaging 1.03 your get a decent finish as to many rookies drive far outside there ablity. Just start form the pits your pass at least 4 people on lap one. Remeber Its 20-25 laps a lot can happen. Keep the car on the road look after the tires and your do fine.

Another thing for rookie racing if a t1 Hero does shunt you, you get one Free repair that is instant, remember to untick fuel and untick tire changes. I have them assigned to my wheel. As default there f *

So yeah, Mosport isn't as easy as I thought :p

Got there in the end though, can see the 17 wing has the pace if you can get the lap setup but I just couldn't hang on to it even for a full lap. The 26 is definitely the way to go for the race...
