checking....

because once you reach FF level at dl and leg, you will be undefeatable at any MMA, MT, BJJ sports. since your hip, legs and back can push over 200Kg.
Most BJJ players - physical muscle combined together can generate up to 190Kg of push force (the ones who don't do BB).

once you break this push force in Kg, you can call yourself a Hulk, Now FF = Hulk. and this is my goal!

I know I shouldn't but have you heard of a chap named Mariusz Pudzianowski - almost certainly the most honoured strongman to compete in MMA and pushes hugely more than 200kg in pretty much any direction yet his record in MMA is not exactly sterling.

Also I feel I've got to ask, what happens at 200kg to make the difference? 190kg seems pretty respectable (if a little exact) but that extra 10kg suddenly makes you undefeatable?

Chest and Tri's this evening:

Went well. Did the same weight as last week but more reps on each set, seemed to go up a lot easier. Hopefully it continues to do this.

Inc. DB Bench was as weird as it normally is. Flys seemed a lot better this week as well.

Note to self: Need to buy four 1.25 plates...

Squats:

60x5
60x3
100x3
130x1
130x1
150x1
165x1
170x1

170kg is technically a PB without wraps. I only had about 3 sporadic hours of sleep - in a ****ing chair - last night. So I'm somewhat pleased with this. And also I've only had about 1000kcal per day for the last 3-4 days. I'm gonna go for another 1RM on Monday, hopefully 175, maybe 180.

Awesome chap :)

Just noticed you're in Bucks...Where are you based roughly without giving me your home address? :p

lol Chilterns. But I train mostly in London. I have equipment in my garage but it's full of **** and I need to clear it all out.

@Muzy - I compete in grappling tourneys with medals and injuries to prove it :D strength may help but technique will trump it everytime. If I'm doing it right I don't need my strength that often. Grappling is so much more than who's the strongest; it's timing, technique, balance, endurance and speed.

My most recent loss saw me caught in an armbar-omaplata switch - I could deadlift, bench or squat a ton and it would not have helped when I got caught by such a technique.

My most recent win was by pressing armlock, leverage, timing and speed saw me lock up and defeat a guy who had beaten my team mate. I didn't strength my way to victory simply because it's not the best way to go about it.

Anyways onto training and it was bench yesterday and finally I'm starting to improve it again. Not near my PB but better than recent weeks :)

Bench
5x 75
3x 85
5x 100 (PB is 9 reps)

Dumbell Bench
5x 32
5x 36
5x 40
5x 44
3x 48

Single arm press
Pushups Galore

Deadlifts tomorrow :) should be good if I can stop bleeding for 5mins >.< took a chunk out of my index finger :(

Found some 1.25KG plates on Fitness superstore (standard plates) 4 for £10...£15 inc. delivery...

Can I get them much cheaper?

Sounds good. Are you sure they're Olympic plates?

And why do you need 4? Why not just 2?

They're standard...But that's all I need them for, DB's.

Need four yes, two for each DB :) I could get Oly plates I guess, the spin lock will hold it on the bar anyway...?

Ah, for dumbbells. Fair enough. Just stick with the standard ones, Oly plates are more expensive. You can get a 1.25kg plate from Strengthshop for about £3.50 + shipping. For 4 that will be £9 in shipping, so £23 total.

Can get the Oly ones for the same price actually...Which is bizarre :p

Ta though chap

Nicely done SMed, can't fault that really if you take into consideration your past week or so. :)

Good session today, deads felt sweet, video will be up soon. I've got a new plan for my core which involves having a stupid volume day on Monday, a very heavy loaded day today and another volume session on Friday. I might drop the second volume day as my core gets stronger and just do regular stuff then because I won't need to do silly amounts. Bench is also coming along nicely :).

Eughhh only a few hours sleep last night for unknown reasons. My brain just wouldn't shutdown.

Still it's deadlifts today and there's not much I enjoy more ^^

Feeling a nice big PB coming in deads, recent lifts have been fast and easy. Got curious last week and did a PB (only by 2.5kg) after all my working sets and it flew off the floor with ease.

If only I could convince my squat and bench to do the same :D

Anyway to pursue some powerlifting and weightlifting goals I'm giving the next 2 or 3 tournaments a miss!

So one of the things I have said many times, to progress we need to have goals. I haven't had a goal in a long time when it comes to anything gym wise (other than 100 lengths of the pool in an hour). Now is the time to set some goals.

There is a competition in August that I am too late to enter (have requested a sideline entry if enough people pull out) but it gives me an idea of what I need to achieve as standard:

Event 1
Novice and Intermediate

Max Deadlift Starting 180kgs(Oly bar and standard Plates).10kg Increases, Lifts can be Skipped.
Any Novice Lifting 260kg or Over will be moved upto Intermediate class. Straps allowed, no suits.

Event 2
Max Log
Starting 80kg Novice
Starting 100kg Intermediate
5kg Increases, Lifts can be skipped.

Event 3
Farmers 20m
Novice 110kg
Intermediate 130kg

Event 4
Block Press Max Reps 75 secs

Novice 90kg Block
Inter 110kg Block

Event 5
Stones Over Yoke 75 secs
Novice 90kg Stone 1 point, 110 stone 2 points, 130 stone 3 points.
Intermediate 110 stone 1 point, 130 stone 2 points, 155 stone 3 points.

As it would be my first comp (should I have entered in time) i would naturally put myself into the Novice group. Makes life easier that way however I would want to break the 260 DL limit regardless lol.

So, targets - by middle of august:

deadlift - 260 (with straps)
Overhead log - 100kg for reps (better to be hitting that for reps than 80)
farmers - 110kg (per hand) - this will be an interesting one given my shoddy grip
block press - will struggle to practice this, more about technique than weight tbh
stone - just get lifting my own ones

Doesn't sound much, but when you throw in conditioning as well, it will be bloody fun!

Sounds awesome morba :)

Regarding this:
farmers - 110kg (per hand) - this will be an interesting one given my shoddy grip

I've recently read that doing DB rows with heavy numbers can help grip a lot. And naturally plate pinches (two plates per hand)

Yeah, there are lots of things I can do to help. Instead of db rows will be doing heavy single hand BB rows. Kinda like t-bars but to the side of body rather than between legs
Mostly it will be grabbing heaving things and holding them for as long as possible. Definitely need to get some chalk though :D

My index finger is still missing a chunk from an unfortunate cleaning accident on Tuesday and it screwed deads a little but not much. Still hit a PB :)

Deads
5x 60
5x 80
5x 120
5x 140 - Shoes off
3x 160 - Chalk on + mix grip
5x 180 - Dropped weight after it reopened my finger - had a few more reps left in me :(

In a rage I went for some heavy singles :)

1x 200
1x 205
1x 210
1x 215 - was fine at 210 but at 215 I started to round so didn't go higher.

A nice PB after some a decent workload before so I'm pleased ^^ finger was a mess with blood after that so I left it and got cleaned up.

After that it was some sumo
5x5 - 140

Hang Power Cleans (agony)
5x5 - 60

After this did some kroc rows and some wide pullups+static hangs.

Today is a good day :D
