Here we go... MPs call for violent video game ban after Breivik claims that he "trained" on Call of

He's a psychopath, why they even give him the time of day is beyond me.

Some people are just born evil, but I guess it's easier for them to understand if they can blame media.

Because someone is always to blame. Always. People are all born sweet innocent puppy huggers and someone/something must corrupt their fragile little minds.

Well I don't know about you but I'm off to train on CoD because I gotta take care of this Keith fella.

yeah, its not like the guy is just evil or barmy is it.
What an idiot...
I class myself as being of ok at cod but i'd struggle even aiming a gun, the mass murderer had access to guns so could do his training for real.

Maybe he has a vendetta against bobby kotick and thought mentioning cod would get it banned, which is a pretty slick idea!

Just to add: Breivik was a member of a gun club, that's how he trained to use firearms. This MP just dislikes gaming so wants to throw the blame on the industry.

It's perfectly reasonable to suggest video games are violent and might consequently influence behaviour.

Although I don't necessarily agree with banning video games I do acknowledge the point some people are making.

We could save money on the military budget if cod training is effective, why even bother with an army, just send all cod players to battle when there is a war.

If you're just debating something down the pub - then yes you can declare what you like. But for an MP to call for powers to ban games without any scientific research or backing comes across as knee-jerk and unprofessional.

If there was a real problem associated with playing games I'm sure we'd all like to know so we don't run off and murder everyone - but all the research I've seen so far seems to suggest that games at most have a minimal and short-term effect on aggression in normal people.

This is such ********. Knew it was coming because it was mentioned a while ago when it first happened.

How is using an xbox controller/PS3 controller or keyboard and mouse like using a real gun?

"training" lol.

of cod is so realistic!
!
I am currently learning how to manage to fly a spaceship and interstella business with x3 hopefully allow of to get a job in the city once I make 100000000000000 credits!

Funny thread. Good laugh, it's like watching McIntyre on OcUK.

LoL!

"cheat, admin, h4x, noob, lag, camper, ban him!"

"Suggest."

"Might."

Not a sound basis for legislating on.

Also tbh I'm not sure it is perfectly reasonable to make statements like that.
A lot of untested assumptions which seem like common sense prove entirely wrong once you go and do some actual research.

This one I doubt you're going to get a definitive answer on (unless you raise some cloned humans in control conditions with and without Call of Duty).

This thread reminds me, I most get out my FS9 again so I can practise flying in to the twin towers. Appears common sense is being genetically removed from our conscience.

Ban television! It's corrupting our youth! Oh, no, wait, it isn't the 50's

Ban rock music! It's corrupting our youth! Oh, no, wait, it isn't the 60's

Ban rap music ! It's corrupting our youth! Oh, no, wait, it isn't the 90's

....you get the picture.
