do i need sata III drive or will a SAta II do

I went from sata 2 to sata 3, if anything it feels a tad slower, my windows loading and welcome screen are now a little longer, just my luck.

That sounds rather bad. I wonder why that has happened to you :/

No idea tbh, all speed results show that the drive is twice as fast as my old corsair ssd, but in real world use I can see my loading screen taking longer, it's a strange one, maybe driver issues as I had one or two hiccups with my new install of windows 7 and new drivers, it didn't go as smooth as normal.

Can you give us a product name? Reason being some SSD's use cheaper NAND that performs worse. Just don't post any compettitor links if you're looking at another site.

also will i need to buy a cradle or can they simply be connected to the motherboard

One of these

is not absolutely needed.

Some cases come with mounting points already built in. Otherwise like me, on one build, you can connect it up and tuck it away behind the motherboard tray and side panel. Even stick some velcro on it or doublesided sticky pads if you want to get really fancy :)

I went X25M to M4 and back to the X25M. Didn't notice a difference with the M4 for os use so sold it and went back to a X25M using a MSI GD65..

I had my M4 on my sata II mobo and once i changed my mobo to a sata III one i really noticed the difference.

boots faster loads games faster. (were talking only about 5 seconds diff though on boot)

WEI went from 7.2 to 7.9.

you don't need a cradle at all if its a desktop thats not going to be moved at all just rest it on the bottom of your case. Its not like its gonna sprout legs and try to walk off is it.
