I'm really struggling on normal level 3 or 4 I think. I'm a level 29 Barbarian with a level 30 magic sword and shield and decent spells. I'm continually dying within seconds of meeting groups of enemy. I fire of magic and swing and spin like mad but I'm dying at least 5-10 times per check point at least. If I have a big swarm of enemy I will dye continually until I have restarted and slowly worked my way through them.
I have tried all the companions but still the same they all have upgraded magic etc...

Where am I going wrong or am I just **** as I could never face the game on nightmare and tbh wish it had an easy mode....

You are not the only one, you will need to increase Vitality and damage those are the numbers that BARB class fav the most.
 
Well just finished normal as wizard lv32. Gotta say normal mode isn't very challenging at all apart from:

Act 2 boss required a skill swapout (diamond skin rather than frost nova). The restricted area combined with the AE he does was pretty brutal for my squishy wizard.
Act 4 boss munched me until I got smarter, which is fine. One attempt ended up with me trapped between one of those bone prisons and the boss, not able to move away :(

On to Nightmare and beyond :)

And boy, I like the wizard. Mass death by magic laser beams. Archon is especially fun, as are critcal death blows - literally reducing groups to glowing/crackling/burning chunks.

Get a lot of armour, resistances and life leech. If you're melee, life leech is pretty important. My barbarian can survive because I get life back from every hit I do, without it I wouldn't survive anything.

Me and Jimbu just killed the Skeleton King on hell, 1.3 million HP...
Diablo on NM didn't have that much.

To be honest you'll be fine with 20k life. My monk is 56 with terribad gear and only has 16.5k life and I'm in act 3 hell now.

How did you get to act 3 lol, I am struggling so bad in act 2, just about every normal now hits like a truck, the rares are insane, 3 minions immune to damage, the main rare 1 shots me AND leaves fire trail that kills me in 1.5seconds.

The only thing that would be able to 1 shot that much are those cultist berserker things with the mace slam attack. :confused:

The ground aoes are pretty insane though, arcane beams, molten trails etc you just have to get used to avoiding them, vortex makes this a bit of a nightmare though.

58/Monk in act 3 hell now, sitting on about 24k hp.

To be honest act 2 was really horrible. Act 3 feels a lot easier and I've not even had any item upgrades. It's not uncommon if I find a really nasty ability combination on a champion/rare pack that I'll die 5 times in a row to kill it. Most of the time though I can kill most packs without any issues. If I had weapons like platypus I'm pretty sure my life would be a lot easier :p
 
:-)) luckily managed to FINALLY complete the damn nightmare.
Wizard is such an ass class to solo. I mean, sometimes u just kill things silly fast and easy and then comes this one pack of champs that hit like a truck and can't be kited because A) they teleport, B) they run at 9000% speed, C) they do both and then the only option to go forward is to reset the damn area and pray that you get different set of champions :S.

The teleport really needs a shorter cooldown, even barb has more mobility than this...

I understand that they didnt want the crazy speed runs teleporting over maps but 16s is tad too much considering that its affected by LOS and has only 35f range -_-.
 
I can basically solo most of hell now on my DH, but as soon as I tried Inferno... Die, die, die, die, die, die.

The mobs have so much HP even solo, the elites will hit you for 17k+ damage.
 
Oh dear....

I read about it enough times but I forgot to change my play server on first start up. Does that mean im stuck with the american server forever now?

Blizz really should have included a server selection screen on start up before being allowed to play for the first time.

I was wondering why my ping was always around 200ms... :p
 
Just a heads up to any that might want the CE. GameStop have it in stock but it doesn't come up on search. My phone had the CE page open and refreshed it this morning and it's available to buy.

I got the CE after registering my standard retail edition, so I called Blizzard and they issued me with another standard edition key after I upgraded to CE whilst talking to the helpful CS chap. So it does work even if you didn't buy digital :D
