Sex for pleasure doesn't cost us anything.

I grew up keeping all kinds of pets (mice, snakes, dogs), but once I grew up I began to wonder what the point was, especially when I have to dodge dog **** on the roads every day. And my bro has a cat which leaves fur everywhere and occassionally pukes or pees on the carpet, and it's just a headache for him (his missus wanted it). I can see them as being good company for old people, but I think that reflects more on our society which tends to abandon the elderly.

Aww you and the bird have done really well. Reminds me of Shawshank redemption (the old librarian?).

Keep it one more day then drop it off at a vets. Similar thing happened to me, I phoned the RSPCA and they gave me the address of a near by vets that could take it, that had some kind of bird clinic.

Or, keep it in the box and feed it in the garden and see if any blackbirds hear the calling and come to visit?

Animals also serve a good purpose, they allow us to have something to do with our free time. It's like a hobby

Yeah point taken. I guess as long as people get something positive out of it, great, just for me it seems like a huge waste of resources and money. But I guess others would say the same about me spending money on a guitar or gaming pc (although my PC is actually about 4 years old, and my guitar cost £300). I suppose for £300 you could buy and feed an animal for a year or something.

IMO, you can't have made a bad purchase or wasted your money if you spent as little as possible to gain full use of the item. IF you buy a £500 painting and it cures you of depression, then good for you! However, if you buy 4x GTX 680's for 1080p, then you have quite clearly wasted your money.

Everyone will define differently whether they have wasted money, butg that's how I see it.
 
Sad news I'm afraid guys :(

Little fella was chirping away when I got for work early this morning ( and even though he was only with me 2 days, I'm gonna miss having that noise in the house so close :D) but didn't seem to want any food so I left him to it and then had an update from the misses (who was crying) at about 8am saying he looked a bit tired and then a phone call shortly after saying he has passed. If he could have held out just a little longer he could have got some veterinary help :(

Dug him a little grave in the garden earlier..

Should have put it outside rather than trying to be Dr Dolittle.

Can't help but thnk you killed it by keeping it trapped up inside in completely the wrong environment. It's not a baby human.
 
Instead of burying it, you could've left it in the bushes and it could've fed a baby fox or something.
