iRacing

Kat hosts a session every tuesday evening, starting at 6pm UK time, and it's designed for general practice, setup development/sharing (or just stealing from me perspective :p) and twice in the session one of the quicker guys will do a walkthrough of the track which generally takes the form:
Lap 1 - really slow, turn in points/gears/braking markers etc
Lap 2 - medium-ish pace talking through it
Lap 3 - a 'fast' lap, hopefully :p

So the walkthrough is really useful as well as a nice co-ordinated practice session :)

Do they do different tracks each week ? and if so how do i see what track they will be running this tuesday

another track i have to buy

oh well i just raced @ Mosport started 11th came 4th 1 incident so im chuffed i got promoted to a B license too :D

Very well done ,, gz :)

It follows the official series so it's decent prep before the races start on Thursday :)

Edit: Nice result Chris :)

Was just reading a post on the Iracing forums there and some guy asked if the Radical series was popular , when a guy mentioned this :

"Also the Driving school is getting more popular and a great way to improve your enjoyment of the car.

What is the driving school ? thats not the same as is on the iracing webby ( Referance >>Driving School ) ?? as thats just video's isnt it

Think you joined the MX5 practice school I did for OCuk members this week, its a bit like that, but far more professional, ran by people who know a lot more than me. Less of a brummy accent and far better put together.

Gutted didnt get to race to day had a day of I-racing planned, but its been a lovley day here to decided to go to a classic car show and fly my helicopter in the sun instead. Don't have the next track so Ill have to take a weeks or so's break from rad racing.

May host a few sessions if anyones up for it during the week where we can have a ocuk Radical session be nice if Gravey and Skill can join do we all have the radical now and oulten park was saying to G just last night how brilliant a track it is, when im ****ed off I fire her up and go lap there such an awesome track, on I-racing and one I've got to learn.

Nah not been racing the mx5 m8 since i got the Radical apart from today i did like half a lap in it ,,lol it is so slow compared to the rad...

Just completed my 1st Radical race without crashing out,, had a few runs onto the grass while letting back markers past ,, and spun once at moss , but must say the car seemed very different / slippy the last 4-5 laps ,, was that my tyres going off ? and also is their break wear in the game or was it just my leg getting lazy as time went on, ^^

tyres do go off, but i dont think brakes do, but ofcourse you wont brake aswell on crappy tyres :p
dont know if its still like it, but the daytona prototype you had 1 good lap on the tyres, then they felt greased :O

It does depend on the car really, but no break wear modelled as yet.

With the Radical there's slight tyre wear over the course of a race but shouldn't be enough to worry about, there is a fair change from the fuel level, but as MrRoper says tyre pressures might be an issue...

With tyre pressures if the setup you're using is a qualifying setup, as most are, as well as adding fuel you want to drop the tyre pressures by 1-2psi all round for the race. The reason for this is that the Q tyre pressures will rapidly go over the perfect point, this definitely causes a loss of grip but it might also cause more wear as well, I'm not sure. With 1-2psi lower the car will start out understeering a bit more generally, but after a lap or two it'll come good and stay roughly the same balance for the rest of the race :)

Well, I got my G25 on Friday and had a few sessions over the weekend, although my girlfriend was down so didn't get much of a chance.

I was useless to begin with. Finally got the hang of the MX5 again and put in a couple of quick laps on Limerock, but wow, I've really lost all ability which had built up when I played before. I need to put some time in now to try and improve.

I may start racing the Cadillac though, I quite enjoyed that in the short session I did.

What are your tyre pressures Joe? they might need dropping a little, also remember that as the fuel burns off the balance does change a little
I was using Either steve peace's or paul thurstons set up , i would say most of the problem was prob in my head as i had a "slip" and after that point things can always seem worse ..

from q to race trim i drop psi about 1 normally on my sets(s peace) and i bring the ride height up a touch, some times ill adjust the front dampers if its understeering badly...

are the radical races on thur, fri, sat & sun ? or just fri sat & sun ?
and i take it when it is a NON race day all you can do are TT's and practice sessions,, ( but not able to race with anyone )

Yep, Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun are the race days.

And yep, only TT's and Practice, but note that this evening at 6pm is the driving school, mostly practice but a race at the end (that I never bother staying to so no idea how many will be there) if you want a light starter to the week :)

what car are you driving at which circuit ? what settings do you have for the g25 and whats your ingame force for the car, what FOV are you using ? what screen res are you at ?

what exactly are you having problems with ?

Since starting playing again I have been racing the MX5 at Limerock, which previously I had got ok at, but I still make silly mistakes. I find myself running wide too often, I am just very inconsistent. Car setup if fixed.

I'm also practicing in the Skippy at Okayama, with standard settings but also tried some settings last night which made things a bit better although I can't quite remember. With the Skippy it just feels like it's always sliding all over, I get a lot of oversteer and end up spinning out far too often. I am JUST about able to get round the track now but I'm not confident with it.

G25 settings are all standard. In game force is default, not sure what that is. Screen res is only 1680x1050 on a 20" monitor, FOV is default.

General problem is inconsistency and not feeling 100% in control of the car when cornering. I'm obviously trying to avoid braking whilst turning, and accelerating too hard out of corners.
