on my new pc, the mouse isn't working, i think it doesn't recognise Win 7, i cant past past the start menu

please help

go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Manage Audio Devices, and select the Recording tab.

next, right click the empty space below the installed devices and check Show Disabled Devices.

The Stereo Mix should appear. Right click on the icon and enable it. Then, click on OK to close the window and then close the Control Panel.

Next, locate the bioshock.exe file. Mine is located here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\bioshock\Builds\Release\Bioshock.exe". Right click on it and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista".

- this is what i've found on another site (not sure if i'm allowed to post the link, please let me know if not) http://www.consideritfixed.com/2009/10/how-to-run-bioshock-with-windows-7.html
... It may work. It was the same issue with me when I tried to play Fallout 3 on windows 7 64bit.

thanks a lot, you have to set compatability mode to Win XP SERVICE PACK 2, this is on all my games plus steam..... i can not run anything on Win 7
finally, you have to download gaming booster..... game works ok now.

Crysis is the same, but it still crashes even with the patches.. i dont know what's wrong with Win 7, but it's **** for gaming... but maybe this is just for old games

this worked ok, until the compatability mode, mine rejected Vista, only acceted Win XP.

But Steam is a disaster, it will not run in offline mode, i had to import Steam from my old drive and run in XP, i had to remove Win 7 Steam, it now runs in offline mode...flipping heck !!!!!

this win 7 is a bitch to use for gaming, it's a bitch anyway....it's not optimised

Win 7 is probably the best windows they've ever made. If you're having trouble running every game you've tried then it's a system issue or some other software causing you grief.

Steam isn't a disaster.. It will run offline if its configured correctly, admit it can be a little picky at times. Its mostly due to an update that hasn't finished that causes the offline mode to fail..

Seems you got it run so don't see the issue.

Win 7 is not a bitch for gaming. Its actually very gaming friendly. I've got many, and I mean many older titles to run under Windows 7 64bit perfectly fine with some patch, or tweak and newer titles run perfectly fine...

I've used Windows 7 for quite some time now - to me its the new XP. Excellent O/S to play games, little bit of a silly remark you made there if you ask me..

Bioshock doesn't even have Win 7 in its list of compatability programes, it deffo doesn't run in win 7, because i tried it all morning, it only runs in WIN XP SP 2, none of my games will run in win 7..... i even downloaded Borderlands and Steam from brand new, fresh install, neither ran until i selected win XP... fact.

i had to go and get Steam from my old hard drive and delete my latest version

my new pc still has a lot of win xp software, simply because i wanted files to be transfered from my old rig, maybe this is the problem.... all my new games are duplicates of my old ones and these are all in Win XP... i even have the old Nvidia/win xp drivers

i never had problems with win xp fact..... only win 7, so when i say win 7 isn't working for me this isn't a silly remark, it's the truth !!!

Fact is you're the only one with the issues running games in Windows 7... Fact. It's a problem on your end. Something you've either done, or havent done. Have you installed the latest Nvidia drivers for your GPU?

As for this

Bioshock doesn't even have Win 7 in its list of compatability programes, it deffo doesn't run in win 7...

I can vouch for it running just fine in Windows 7 ;)

Same no issues with it running.

Snap, I have the retail version and it runs perfect in win 7. Maybe op has some pirated win 7 or he has a dodgy install or maybe a corrupt failed update. He has issues with lots of games. Win 7 is the best thing since xp

Also just because a game is not on the win 7 list does not mean it won't work at all.

Funny this, as I’ve got Bioshock installed on my laptop running Windows 7, just for a laugh as I have my laptop with me at work I fired up Bioshock..

Guess what, it worked just fine running bioshock.exe – funny that..!! Even worked with a gamepad plugged in – bonus if you ask me.

And you wonder why you are having problems.

Any issues are are having are issues you have caused by cutting corners and bodging your install.

Bioshock works perfectly on W7 as does Borderlands, I've been playing both for years without a hitch.

As for Bioshock not having W7 on it's compatibility list, that would make sense since it came out 2 years before W7.
