***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Depends on the brand of the card. I’ve had LG and Sandisk Class 4 and 6 cards before as well as Class 2 Sandisk Mobile Ultra and found the LG class 6 to perform less than Sandisk Class 4 (normal) but the Class 2 Mobile Ultra matched up to the Class 6 transfer speed wise.

Class is just the minimum speed remember, good brand ones will perform well above the minimum.

I was talking about getting a 32gb class 10 card and my tech mate said there was an ongoing debate about whether class 6 or class 10 were better for tab and phone app and operational use, I don't know and bow to better informed opinions.

Class 4 would be fine for bulk movie and music storage I assume?

I have purchased two of those SD cards today, one for my S3 which I have pre-ordered and one for a little portable speaker that I take with me when Im away from home for the weekend (or even on holiday) which has a built in Micro SD slot to play music directly from it. (used in my hotel room when getting ready to go out etc)

The speaker in question is

I don't think they are necessary unless you think you're going to scratch the screen.

Someone explained in here or another thread that Gorilla Glass should not be scratched by coins/keys etc as the hardness level (I forget the technical word) of these items is less than the hardness level of the glass. Unfortunately the hardness level of things like sand is higher which, if it is in your pocket, will scratch the glass....

My S2 has been treated like a new born baby for the last 12 months - still has 3 small very, very faint scratches - probably from when I wiped the screen a million (literally) times with lense cloths.
