How often do you re-gas your air conditioning?

Did it blow up?

No, I knew something wasn't right immediately, the pusher fan was on full blast constantly, the AC was coming on and off.

Took it to another place and they pulled out 1.2kg.

Spoke to Kwik Fit and they said they would refund the money, still yet to send the receipt and covering letter ....

I've had my car for 3 years and the AC isn't as cold as it was when I first had it (I always use it instead of opening the window), but the car is 13 years old now.

Going to get it re-gassed soon.

Haven't noticed a measurable loss in MPG with it on, but driving around town in slow areas is a bit of a pain when it's on, you can feel it sap the power

I had mine done once as it was on a special at the local dealer :o

I thought the lubrication for the system was in the refrigerant so it was a good idea to make sure that the system doesn't run too low. No idea if that is accurate though.

A lot of oil is carried around the system with the refrigerant mainly due to the compressor having no oil seperator or a major separate oil circuit.

Your system would have defintely be tripping on High Pressure!

Not as bad as my company, they manged to put 200kg in a system which should have had 70kg!

They do lose the refrigerant naturally by like maybe 10% a year. I've also never touched it unless it stops working, which has happened on only one car I owned.

The only time I've ever had to regas an aircon system was when the compressor died in my 330d and as such the loop had to be emptied and refilled.

For the rest of the cars life (and the same with my other cars) they run A/C constantly.

four years ago my mk4 golf was regassed by kwikfit, it wasnt particularly cold at all. on a particularly hot day, instead of having it on low, setting 1 air pointing up and down, it had to be turned up to 2 and 3 and pointed to face only because it was simply getting hot in there

last year it had an mot at VW, i got them to do an "air con service" and the difference was massive. last year we had a couple days where the car reported the temp to be 37-38* outside, with the system serviced there were no issues at all but bloody hell did you know about it when you got outside the car

Never had any car I've owned re-gassed.

My climate control is always on and never touched, unless I have the roof down in which case I turn all the air off.

I'm paying the price for hardly using my aircon over winter, now it needs a regas :(

Anyone recomend anywhere in the ocuk/stoke-on-trent area, or should I just go to kwikfit or a maindealer? Cheers :)

I had mine regassed just a few months ago but that was due to have a hole in the condenser. Did run with the CC broken for nearly a year though before I decided to fit a new condenser and get the system recharged.

On the economy side, I have noticed a difference on my car but then again I've never found my Accord that economical.

To all the people asking who/where to get it done, I used a local AC specialist, found that they were very helpful especially when they leak tested the system, found no leak, recharged and I then found that a few days later it was broken again.

this is one problem on the fiesta i keep putting off, i have it regasssed every year all is well, when i come to use it again after 3 months or so, nothing think a seal must be nakered or something.

Never used to bother me as i just put the windows down but with a baby in the back you cant really do that.
