Police or not Police?

I thought the difference was all police officers have to show their numbers on their shoulders? Or is that something I've just made up?

They all looked like police to me... perhaps the guy with the red checker board wasn't, but I don't know if that's a thing for police or not.

I've assumed that a community support officer isn't a police officer - and have voted that only fully warranted police are "police". So I've probably got a lot of them wrong.

I only view fully warranted cops as proper old bill, I look at PCSO's as government cost savers.

The powers are irrelevant. They a members of a recognised police force and are accountable through the same procedures a constable is. Anything you tell them has the same data protection, so you know that your details will be handled properly. They can also access other services which random security can't.

Their uniform is also standardised to some extent, via ACPO guidelines. My point is that they don't just make up their uniform and are proper professionals in their role.

Also, PCSOs have more powers than a civillian, they also have one or two powers that constables don't.

Fair play, I didn't know that.

Could be wrong but I was under the impression that private security have to prominently display their SIA badges which none in the survey do,
