Developing situation in Gibraltar between Royal Navy and Spanish Navy

Can we win? Right lets go for it, Dave needs a 'good' war to get the polls up. Worked for Maggie...

we shouldnt respond with military force, just send a **** tonne of fishing boats into spanish waters and start fishing until they leave Gibraltar.

Nuke from orbit, its the only way to be sure.

Trident replacement, the shelved or not so shelved new subs, I actually pondered if an orbital platform might be a better approach. Antimissile fire tends to take out incoming stuff, not stuff being directly delived from above, and to date the chumps in iran haven't really demonstrated any ability to get stuff into orbit, let alone destroy it from there.

Orbital platform, whilst heeding maintenance won't need crew. Hmm just guess no one has the balls to try flying the nukes up there in the first place.

If this continues I genuinely think one of these should be sent down there

What gets me is if Argentinian fishing boats were doing this with Argentine armed ships escorting them in the waters around the Falklands then the public and media here in the UK would pretty much demand that force was used to remove them. Whats the difference here?

spain is part of EU and NATO, and stronger than argentina, and we did not recently go to war with them over gibralter.

All true. Still don't think that armed Spanish naval ships should be straying into British territorial waters as they please and ignoring orders to leave.. which they are doing as I speak

oh i know, was just saying why people arent all up in arms about it. you're right that if this was Argentina it would be on the news.

Just Spain doing what Argentina did and trying to get their populations attention onto something other than the fact the economy is headed down the drain.

Amusing that this farce is costing both governments money, neither of which can really afford it.

Seems a bit **** that a bunch of Spanish trawlers turn up in Gib waters with a GC escort, the RN & RGP head out, intercept them, tell them 'em to bugger off and get point blank ignored whilst the GC add more (presumably armed) craft in Gib waters with impunity. :(

It may be political posturing but surely you can't afford to be publicly made to look impudent like that for long before it sends a far from ideal message to the likes of Argentina?

Let's hope someone has arranged for something a bit bigger than Sabre to be in the area ASAP on a purely coincidental good will/training exercise to celebrate HMs jubilee...

Exactly my point

Putting nukes in space would be a breach of international law.
