***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I popped down to Westfield White City this afternoon and got to play with the S3. I was a bit disappointed with the blue colour and the screen size. I liked the photo features, burst shot and panoramic stitching. Also liked that the Swype typing on this is faster than my S2, as since I did an ICS upgrade on my phone it's made it slower which is annoying me.

I tried the face recognition and it didn't work. I was told that as they are demo phones and been used all day, some features don't work on some phones...hmmm.

Overall it didn't exactly blow my skirt up. The male sales assistants on the other hand, now if I got one of those free with the phone.. :D ;)
If you go down there I highly recommend chatting with Alex.

(I'm a ladeeee don't you know!)

So if you use it a lot you can expect it to stop working properly? Impressive sales people they have there. :p

Maybe you have a weird face?

I'm just saying :p

Jokes of course!

Edit*

Now I know 4 people within my family getting the S3. It's the S2 all over again. I get one...they all follow and I become "tech support" for them by default.

Bah!

Maybe it only recognises men and not designed for us mere women, seeing as we don't know the difference between an S3 and S2 :p

Still deciding whether to bother with S3. I only paid £100 for my S2. I used £150 worth of Tesco vouchers which doubled during their promotion to buy a phone from them which they ended up not being able to supply so they gave me £300 and I added the £100 and bought the S2 from O2 for £400. I don't suppose there is any chance that O2 will have a lower price than £500 on PAYG? The Samsung guy told me they still don't know the definite price they will be selling it for, but thinks it will be between £550 to £600.

You'll be able to get it for under £500 from somewhere. £600 for the 16GB model isn't going to go down well.

Thanks maybe worth hanging on for the price to drop, although that's what my brother did for his S2 when it was £400 and it went up to £450.

The Samsung reps we're pretty useless - they didn't know about the 64GB model and predicted the 32GB model to cost around £650.

These "reps" are, afterall, just people sent away for a few days to learn the specs and features and then sent back to these stores to "inform" the public on what is what.

I worked in Comet for a week before quitting (it is that bad) several years ago and one such colleague went to Canon for a week and when he came back it was as if he thought he was some kind of camera god and had f-stops coming out of his anus.

I couldn't work in such an environment even if it was part time!

Bah!

At least you don't have to deal with my mother in law :D, and she used to work as a sales person for a well known retail store.
She has not got a clue about anything which involves electricity, and no I am not joking.
Absolute nightmare :(

Read today the S3 won't be out in Korea till June 25th, what a boatload of **** news that is!

don't think I believe this either: (would wind up the people who want the S3 to look more like the S2 though!)

praying the S3 follows the path set by the S2 where the Korean version is near identical to the International version rather than hat they did with the S1 and Note!

That pic looks like a bad shop, look at the screen size as well, that's bigger than the S3 on the left so are they saying the Korea one gets a 4.9/5" screen?!

Lol

Samsung Galaxy S III - global shortage of "Pebble Blue" handsets imminent?

It may not have escaped the attention of perceptive readers that the Galaxy S III went on sale in Dubai earlier this week. It also may not have escaped the eye of the very attentive that only the Marble White version of the handset was available there at launch. Like many I didn't make too much of this at the time, there could have been lots of reasons for launching in only one colour (for example carrier preference - we saw this in NZ with the launch of the One X which is only being carried in white by Telecom NZ). It turns out there may be more to it than that however, and unfortunately the news isn't looking good for the significant majority of buyers who wanted the Pebble Blue version at release: there may be a worldwide shortage.

Samsung Global had reported there is significant demand for the SG III Pebble Blue device globally:

Samsung have only started production for worldwide distribution on the SG III Pebble Blues this week, so worldwide deliveries will be affected.

You could just get 3M Carbon wrap, it's only a few quid and wrap the stock cover no problem.

I'm going to be using the ROCK black pebble case on mine though.
