Is anyone esle having trouble searching for gems on the auction house?

What companion do people use? I'm using the templar so he can get hit instead of me and he does seem pretty handy at keeping agro. Are there any negatives in using one?

I've only used the Templar, got him kitted out with a bit of nice kit for my level. Haven't even thought to try the others really.

I used the Scoundrel for a while and he ws pretty good but finished with teh Templar. on nightmare I am using the Enchantress and she is good as well, has a nice through back spell which hellps if you are getting overwhelemed

Mostly I use the templar as you get free heals from him but used the enchantress too who was useful with her charms/chickens.

Getting quite sick of missing an item at a good price on the AH by seconds and seeing it pop up again 5 minutes later for a 6-digit sum. They really need to add a 48-hour timer before the same item can be sold again. It's at the point where if I see something that might be an upgrade for a good price I have to buy it almost without thinking, THEN check exactly how good an upgrade it is.

EDIT : looks like I'm not the only one getting bitten by AH gaming.

Having a bit of a saga with a pair of set boots.

Bought them for 1million, used for a while and relisted for 2 million.

Someone bought them from me, relisted for 2.5 million, I bid on them, but someone paid the buyout and has relisted them for 3.5 million.

Worst part is I have massive sellers remorse as they were fantastic.

The daft thing is, the person who bought it for 2mil to re-list it for 2.5 would've only made what, 150K from that sale?

Just started hell mode, coming towards the end of act 1

Wizard with about 21k hp 4.5k dps (level 51) hardly to no resistances.

Ive tried to get gear from the AH, havent had much luck when it comes to drops.

Im getting destroyed by some packs in act 1, whats the best line of attack?

1- persist and keep wiping/slow progression
2- spend money on ah (doing so at the moment)
3- farm something? if so what exactly? (diablo on nightmare?)

set the Ah max price to 25k and search 1-handed weapons. Then filter by dps and buy the one with the most. Packs will go down much quicker.

Also use Diamond skin and blizz. Helps a lot

This is in inferno? I just started Hell last night and all items including rares I have seen so far are all junk. Stats are far too random. Yet to see a legendary drop for me or my two mates.

Hoping to complete Hell with my Barb some point today.

How hard is Diablo on hell? If the fight is anything like Belial it should be a walk in the park!

Depends on class, with barb it's so easy that if the rare champ packs didnt have so many abilities I wouldnt actually know if its normal or hell. Bosses are a joke. If you got any trouble on hell let me know in game PhoenixUK#2160

There are a lot more factors to damage than just weapon dps.
Depending on class and skills that you're using you might want to filter for str/int/dex/crit damage/arcane power on crit etc.

I'd rather have 10k dps and unlimited arcane power or 2k more hp than 11k dps with 0 arcane regen or no hp / crit etc.

400dps weapon with 150str might potentially give u more dps than 500dps with no stats on it.

Finally finished my first playthrough on normal with my Wizard... feels good to have it done all the way through.

He said he was getting crushed by packs. So no matter what weapon he gets much higher DPS output will be what he needs. Also + crit chance and +arcane will set you back much more than 30k.

Stats are far too random.

That's really the point. The search for that rare/legendary that has almost perfect stats for you. If all legendary's were exactly the same, it would just be a case of picking one & goldfarming, since the market's already flooded.
