It's incredibly common, from experience most people seem to get freaked out by them? My other half generally isn't squeamish in the slightest but always runs out the room until I've disposed of them and has a genuine fear.

Me, I can deal with them, stick them outside, even pick up the smaller ones but I always get a fright and feeling of complete uneasiness whenever I see one scuttling around.

House spiders always seem to get huge in warmer/summer weather, too?

Do they bother you?

They scare the **** out of me and I have nightmares continuously about spiders. This is the main reason I stay awake on OcUK all night :(

Yeah they bother me, I set the living room carpet on fire once when trying to dispose of a spider once.

Not at all - I hate flying things though, especially jenny long legs. I don't think it's a phobia, I just execute them and get on with things.

I'll happily sleep in a room with a big spider in the corner above my head, for example.

Always have been scared of spiders, anything of a decent size and I turn into a little girl! I really can't explain it though, I'm not scared of any other type of bug, and will happily pick up any of them, just not spiders.

Baffles the mind...

Maybe you could add it the the "things that boggle the mind" thread.

Googled Jenny longlegs and got something unexpected in images

The quick ones make me feel a bit unsettled but fine otherwise. I rarely see them around the house. I think the bass from my speakers deters them.

Used to be, but in recent years I've actually become more interested in them than scared.

Quite fascinating creatures.

Back in school (as you do) I picked up one of the daddy long legs and pulled the wings off, soon as I did that it registered in my mind as a spider and I had to get it off my sharpish!

When I see a 1 cm big spider I start screaming and start shouting at my dad to get the mini hoover.

Too many legs, too many eyes, too calculating in their movements; at first so slow you might not notice them moving, then once you catch a glimpse of them, that mad scuttle that you can imagine being the same as the one they'd use if they were going for your throat....

In my house, unwanted eight legged intruders get fed to my cat; a tasty snack and some light entertainment for him.
