Right bit of a late reply but ive been out and about today with the missus...went to see the Dictator and just got back now. Highly recommend the movie, i was in absolute stitches for most of the movie, think its got to be one of the funniest movies i have seen this yr but be warned its very inappropriate so if your easily offended then stay away.
Anyhowwwwwwwwwww ended up meeting the missus at Westfield in white city earlier this evening and thought id go and check the Samsung pop up store they have in the middle of the shopping centre. Quite a nice little setup with glass rooms with lots of people milling around. There was a girl there giving a demo to the crowd about certain features of the phone. It was very busy and didnt give me much to time to have a play with the SGS3 but i did manage to get hold of one for about 10mins, they had both blue and white models.
Anyhow after seeing it in the flesh so to speak, i was quite impressed by the look and feel of the SGS3...both blue and white dont look that bad in the flesh compared to some of the pics that are circulating around the internet at the moment. I had one of the reps showing me various things about the phone, pulled out my One X to compare it and i found the One X slightly taller but the SGS3 slightly wider than the One X.
The software and touchwizz launcher seem to work pretty well, loved the video overlay bit where you can send off a quick text whilst watching a video...that was pretty neat i found. Scrolling through the menus is pretty smooth and quick, didnt find any sort of lag on the phone.
Like i said i had a quick 10mins or so with the phone and i have to say i was quite impressed by it. So im now seriously considering selling the One X and getting a SGS3...my cousin is after my One X, said he will give me £350 for it so i suppose i can use that and put some extra towards the SGS3.
But based on first impressions, i actually preferred the SGS3 over the One X. But before i pull the trigger, ill wait till the hype dies down then go and play with one properly and then make my final decision. Couldnt get a real chance to play with one today as it was very very busy down at the Samsung pop up shop in Westfield.
But all in all its not that bad looking a device really, pics do not do it justice imho. I'll also add that i dont think the SGS3 in any way, shape or form is worth the £550 that it will be selling for the 16gb model...its a lot of money for a phone thats literally made out of plastic...as much as i liked the SGS3, i dont think its a premium phone at all but thats my opinion...for that sort of money, it should have had a metal frame, chassis or maybe glass like the iphone4/4s. So i dont think the arguement that iphones are expensive holds up anymore against the SGS3 when the SGS3 sells for the same price of an iphone4s now and is nowhere premium made like the iphone4/4s, which to this day i think is a lovely looking device. Ive said it before in a thread on here that its a shame more phone manufacturers dont take a leaf out of Apple and use some premium materials to make phones especially if they are going to be selling it close to £600
