Maybe this manufacturing problems stems from the volume of pre-orders? It seems as if even Samsung were surprised at the level of pre-orders for the device.

Yeah, seems that way. Maybe they planned on a carp load more people buying the white than the blue...

They delayed my vita pre order and I got it a day later but they gave me a £20 voucher.

I think we should start a new thread once the phone is released !

Hopefully it's user error where by the person you spoke to was just doing something wrong and not finding it!

Just called Phones4u and my new phone will arrive 30th with the free £50 accessory pack. I have ordered the blue version. I did order the first day available for ordering though.
