I'm taking the kids (aged 6 & 4) to Euro Disney next week and wondered if anyone has any tips of advice for when there? Especially if any of the character dinners etc are worth doing?

Yes to the character restaurants, its the best way to get the kids with the characters and get their autographs etc.

They do stand outside for 20 mins or so at a time but they just get mobbed and you have to be pushy to get to the front. A mugs game if you ask me.

Do the Mickey Wild West show, its awesome. Pricey, but worth it.

All in all, loved it, kids loved it. Same age as yours. Went at the end of March.

Which hotel you staying in ?

Mickeys cafe is good for a character meal, it's just at the entrance to the disney village bit.
Grab an autograph book and get the characters to sign it, it's always a nice touch.
If you go in the disney studios all the characters come through a gate next to the cinemagique show, it's a great place to meet and greet before the hordes. If you miss them there then equip yourself with pepper spray to fend off the overly eager and spoilt kids, and the obnoxious pushy parents. You will quickly learn the lesson that we are the only nation that understands the concept of queueing.
Jump on the train and go to the next station down, there is a supermarket, stock up, all food is hyper expensive and quite frankly rubbish, to the point of macdonalds being the cheapest and best they have to offer, they also do beer as part of the meal deal.
If you are stopping in a disney hotel take advantage of the early bird tickets for the main park, it saves hours of queueing for frankly rubbish rides.

I have stayed in 2 hotels. The Newport Bay and the Sequoia Lodge. I actually picked the times well. Newport Bay is a very nice summer hotel (went in July), while the Sequoia is very warm and cosy in the winter (I went for NY).

I love the place and i'm 31. yes, I know it's commercialised, but I don't care, it's good fun. Must have done the POTC ride about 4 times.

My fave land is Frontierland. I think that's because I like the wild west and the cowboy cook out and silver spur steak house were always welcome. If you go to the cookout, have the Texas Platter. 11 euro's for chicken, veal sausage, pork ribs and potato wedges.

You can get a Eurostar that goes straight there as well. if I recall correctly, the station is called Marne-La-Vallee. Free buses run right outside to the hotels.

So back on topic any recommendation on what to do there? Also I've been told to reserve tables at the restaurants did anyone fine that necessary.

When are you going, we are going on Saturay - never been before and kids are 11 & 6.

Most advice i have had relates to money, take out a second mortgage for food as its very dear and all fast food on site.

To people who have been, I'm in Sequoia lodge - is there a character meal in the hotel and can you book it from reception??

Sorry to hijack OP but I'm after the same advice as you really!!!

If you want to eat at Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe etc in the Disney Village then, given that you have kids, I would eat slightly early before going back to the park for the parade in the evening. I never booked a table there although you do see queues sometimes. I had to wait at Planet Hollywood one time I went but got a table within about 15 minutes.

If there's any chance of you going on any "adult" rides (e.g. if there's anyone else going that could stay with your kids) then the Rock N Roller Coaster is AWESOME, as is the Tower of Terror.

I wouldn't personally bother with the Wild West Show. I went the last time I was in DLRP but I worked for Disney Store at the time and got awesome discounts across the whole park :D - 30% on all merch and food, free park entry tickets, and also got into the Wild West Show for €20 instead of €69. I enjoyed it but would have felt a bit disappointed if I'd paid full whack for it.

I never found it necessary to book restaurants. The hotels can normally easily cater for their guests.

My fave eating places on the park were:

Cowboy cookout
Silver spur steakhouse
King Ludwigs castle
Rainforest cafe
California grill in the disneyland hotel

Stay away from buzz lightyears pizza place. It's awful.

Stayed at the same hotel, had a look in all of them but did prefer the public areas of the Sequoia, love that lodge look. The rooms themselves are due a refresh, very 90's looking but you spend no time in them so its no big deal......no character meals in the hotel, but you can book pretty much everything from the desk downstairs in the lobby.
