Possibly buying an apartment. Could I fit an English pool table in the living room?

What does your partner think about having a sports room instead of a living room? Genuine question.

Thats a good question. I do this before I get the partner so then it's already part of the opening contract clause.

Oh yeh and find someone who likes pool.

not being funny but playing pool is not gonna bother anyone, its not loud at all, i play all the time.... you're thinking of hearing pool/snooker on tv where the tables have mic's on!

If the apartment already exists, surely you can check access as to whether you could actually get such a pool table up the stairs or in a lift.

If bits of it can be taken to pieces, then you have a good chance, otherwise it might be difficult.

I'd rather play at a pool club and then go home to a spacious apartment for which I'm paying an arm and a leg for, it's like filling a house with gym equipment. Question makes no sense to me at all.

The the slate bed is extremely heavy. For ours we had to put it on rollers have like five people help. So taking it up into an apartment may be tricky. So take that into account.

Also the ball mechanism (when you pot the ball, the ball rolls, and then slots down into the side rack) can be pretty noisy. However I'm sure you can place foam in all the pockets to reduce the sound. Or alternatively get one where the balls remain in the pockets because the noise is mainly from the mechanism which directs the ball to the side.

this will be great until the novelty wears off within 6 weeks
Pool isn't a novelty. Although it is a children's game in comparison to snooker (which I play) a lot of people take it seriously and aim to better themselves and play for a lifetime.

And stop worrying about noise people, I make more noise fapping.

Granted we're not in an apartment, but me and my housemate converted our front room in to a pool room. We're still on-going at the moment, but here's a pic:

We've got 4 stools going across the back wall (the left hand wall in this picture) and we're going to be wall mounting a 32" LCD TV on to the chimney breast in the background, hooked up to an xbox 360 for Netflix/4OD/gaming/music etc :)

I like pool, more so than the average joe :)

I would strongly suggest going for a 2bed flat. A 1bed is not going to work with a pool table in the lounge.

You'll have no space to put a sofar and/or watch TV. Stools are not a solution, how can you watch a movie sitting on a stool!? lol.

I understand you like that hobby a lot but unless you like playing every single day for hours it's not practical.

When we moved the table (his brother btw) we removed the slate and then propped the table up on either side like it was a car on a jack. We then unscrewed the legsand then took the table through to that room where we did the reverse to put it back together.

I can't remember how much the table was as we've had it a few years and got it via ebay. You need 3/4 people to move it all i'd say as the slate is one bit and quite heavy and you don't want it snapping. It's not really hard to move about it's just heavy and you have to becareful with the slate.

Pool table on the second floor? Good luck :)

I had a friend who had a pool table in their office. It weighed over 300Kg, and when they moved office they ended up leaving it behind for the next tenants because it was such a complete nightmare to move.

Think we paid between £300 - £400 for it, and collected it in a truck. Purchased from eBay, it was an old pub pool table once upon a day and bears a few marks as a result of it, but in great condition considering the ridiculous amount of games the counter has logged!

Your dream of owning a pool table will be a lot more viable if you perhaps ditch the idea of getting a slate one. Alternatively, you could always buy a slate one, see if you can sell the slate off, and manufacture a smooth replacement?
