Anyone ever accidently put too much weight on the bar and done your work and not realise why it's suddenly so darn heavy?

I did that today, was supposed to do bicep barbell curls at 24.5KG and couldn't understand why the extra 2.5 kg was makingit soo damn hard to get my work done.
Had to stop midway after a few sets and stretch as my forearms and biceps felt like exploding and my face and neck had veins popping out from the shear effort of it all.

Then after I was done I realised I had two 10KG plates on instead of two 5kg ones :(
So instead of working at 24.5kg like I was supposed to I was at 34.5kg, at least I didn't end up swining the weight and bending my back.
But hell! Was it tough.

Dropped to 22kg for my narrow grip work and arms were shot.

Couldn't even do 1 length of the gym for farmer's walking since my forearms were destroyed.

No but I have loaded up the bar for bench and had uneven weights on either end, I was really confused that one side was suddenly weaker than the other :o:D

That's happened to me as well, on squats it was terrible.

Had two 25kg plates on the left and accidently two 20kg on the right. Was mess haha

Must be the night for it nightmare, I was doing a bit of heavy dl work, thought I will load up my current rep max to see how it feels, got it about 1inch of the floor and may the decision not to fight it and stopped the attempt.

Put the weight down thinking it shot up last time must've the diet I am on, then looked at the bar. Hmmm thats not 150, bugger that's 160! no wonder it didn't go up like last time lol.

2nd day ever at them gym. Was still sore from the first day on Sat, lifts were worse, and I had to wait ages to use stuff because the 'bros' were hogging it. Urgh. Then again, mainly working on form. Deadlifts killed my shins also.

That said, my bench felt less unstable just taking a few pointers from a couple of Dave Tate vids (e.g. 'pulling the bar apart' to get the requisite shoulder tightness). Question though, back arch w/the bench. I see some people do it very flat, power lifters do it with a big arch. Rippetoe wants to see air under the lower back. Confused!

How much stretching do you do every day?

In general not loads.

I still do the rehab ones I got given to help my back, but they seem to be doing less and less (or i'm doing weight exercises that don't like my back)

So I suck my tummy in while on all fours, and lower to my bum.
I lie on my back and pull my leg towards my chest to stretch the hams
And I tense my butt while laying down.

Started using the band in the morning as well with the hamstring stretch, so I basically put my foot in and push towards the ceiling...?

lol @ hamstring thing. Which vid was it from? May need to get a few put together, maybe from Squat guide Ice posted up, so when your back is fine, then you'll have the mobility to get stuck in :)

Can't remember the vid, but it was a MWOD one, it's as I explained finally above ^^^

I'd also be stretching my shoulders too.

Been doing shoulder dislocations when I remember...trying to do these every morning now? Or is that too much?

Also ram a small ball into my scap to loosen that sometimes.

@Deception:

But yeah, need to get something down...I just find i'm spending so much time down the gym it's ridiculous at the moment :( Finish at 5pm and i didn't leave till about 7 tonight...Doesn't help with the 20min / 30min cardio at the end mind! But hey, gotta be done.

Need to post in the mob thread as well really ice about my foot/leg again

Really loving gym life at the moment as things are really going from strength to strengh both in the kitchen and in the gym. Post photoshoot (glyogen depletion) rebound has been fantastic.

Legs are ramped up to x2 a week now but tonight pulled off x3.4 my bodyweight for 6 on leg press (225kg) i am already struggling to walk, bring on the DOMS in the morning.

Good work!
What are you doing for calf training?

Deadlifts killed my shins also.

Good! Means you are most likely doing it right :D. Just power through the pain baby :).

Depends what your goal is. You definitely want the pinched shoulder blades and retracted shoulders but the arch isn't necessary unless you are a strength athlete and even the it depends on who you are :).

Sounds like good work so far, keep going man :p!

My knees are okay though - no smashing them when putting the weight down (think it's bad manners to just drop it!).

Going low on the squats as well. It feels sort of weird going to the gym and just concentrating on three exercises when everyone around you is faffing about doing 100 different things (yet to see anyone else squat though, all these massive dudes will do the leg press and stuff but zero squatting).

New all time low this morning for this year...

194lbs :D

No idea how! Amazing though

Nice one! Keep up whatever you're doing. Hopefully I can start losing some unwanted fat once my body has adjusted to new calorie intake. Although im happy with strength actually increasing for once :)
