Dual channel on that CPU
Change the CPU to a ivy bridge
what will he be doing?
I'd grab the Samsung 830 256GB. Much better drive.

What does your dad use the PC for?
He's going to be using it for web browsing, downloading, media stuff etc. No Gaming.

How about that?
Still overkill really but is a funky lil mini-itx build. SSD is there for fast boot times, lots of storage for media. Bluray drive so he can rip movies in HD to the 2TB eco drive (intel quick sync can really help with this using the IGP).
Mobo is Z77 so all the overclocking and IGP cleverness is compacted into a tiny lil mobo with built in wifi as well. PSU is overkill but a good price for a modular unit that is quiet. In fairness if he added a GPU this could be very gaming capable too should he change his mind down the road.
