*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Is that app not just showing the temp of the battery? It isn't the CPU temp afaik........

This is in a rather hottish room:

EDIT:

Yup that is just the temp of the battery.

Tried the camera out yet? :p

Here's a few shots taken during lunch, what a nice day!

HDR vs Auto vs Arc (The Sony has rock solid exposure/processing but is crippled by high compression btw)

Certainly one of the best around, they just need to tone down the ott processing (I guess that's Sense all over still :p)
Loving burst mode/best shot, can't see 10GB lasting long with those features. (about 100MB for a "20 pic burst shot" outdoors )
Shame about video, the Arc is probably smoother and a bit more detailed. They should add an option to turn off full res dual capture mode.

Very nice! Looks like a very nice quaint place that to!

However, they are resized!!!!!!

Whack the full size ones up, that is where they look even better then :p ;)

haha, I personally like the OTT processing, think it makes the images look a bit better and stand out more :p :o

Yeah, the photos are pretty big in size, not to mention the 1080P videos!!!! Although for me it isn't an issue as photos and videos are really the only things that use up most of my storage :p (use the burst mode every now and then, but not as much as just the standard photo shots)

R9G3w.png
JhOq2.png

that is including quite a bit of 1080P footage too

And once the storage is filled with thousand of photos and videos, transfer them to the PC and start again then :p

Thought that might be the case regarding video recording compared to SE phones! They have superb 1080P capture

HTC seriously need to sort out the light metering and jerkiness on their mobiles!!!!

What do you think of the rest of sense etc.?

Dare I ask what you were doing with those sheep sarge...

I don't think we really want to know what Sarge does on his lunch time in a field full of sheep :p :D

The little ***** kept running away so I couldn't take cutesy shots like this...

The Arc only captures 720p :o There's huge scope for improvement on the One S!

The metering isn't so bad, you can recover shadows fairly easily. HTC have a brilliant auto-fix button on the Titan but I can't find it One S (not the same as auto enhance, it's miles better!)

What do you think of the rest of sense etc.?

A bit buggy, messy, bloated and pointless ...but it'll do. The raw speed, efficiency and awesomeness of the hardware glosses over those short comings (and HTC usually improve things over the course of the year?)

I meant SE phones in general! :p However, looking on gsmarena it appears that no SE phone currently released does 1080P  could have sworn some of their phones recorded 1080P :o, the quality is amazing considering it's 720P! 1080P should be superb!

It isn't bad bad! But when compared to Samsung GS2 and GS 3, it doesn't look particularly great IMO.

It certainly is a big improvement over their previous phones though.

The auto enhance on the S is superb though! Really does make the photos look even better! :D The stock gallery is pretty impressive overall though isn't it? ;)

Actually will have to upload a comparison of a stock photo and the same photo with auto enhance effect applied, for the rest to see.

Messy?!?!?!

:p

I am not too sure about HTC's support from first hand experience, but they do seem to be pretty good at getting stuff fixed/tweaked etc. although the X is mainly there priority now (4 updates VS just the 1 we have have had, the S has had 2 in USA though, hopefully we will get that update soon).

They appear to be better for long term support anyway when compared to Samsung.

Here are some comparisons (same photos posted before) of standard photos and the same photos but with the auto enhanced effect applied via the stock sense gallery:

Standard photo first followed by the auto-enhanced one:

Pretty good and you have loads more effects to choose from, doesn't take like 5 minutes or anything to apply/process the effect, simply choose the effect you want and it is instantly applied and then save or cancel the new photo with the applied effect instantly.

@Nexus18 your cats are adorable! They must be right characters to have around! :)

Thanks for the posting tip! I'll try and use it later when I get out of this newbie stage :confused:

I totally forgot about the slow motion recording on the HTC One S! Another plus for HTC! The HOS has so many features in such a compact body!

I like what you have done with Apex Launcher Mate its an awesome and very clean and concise look. May I ask what weather widget are you using? The set up is good and icons also look amazing with Apex :):)

Your HOS looks the business! :)

If the next Nexus has the S4 in it then Wow! I might even buy one!

Oh yes definitely upload some more pics of TC (great name by the way!) cats are so funny in so many ways they make me laugh just watching them!

I tell you what that bird house / nest is luxurious! The birds that live in there must think they live in the creme de la creme of nests!

I am a self confessed phone junkie and I hate to admit it and I do end up getting most phones when they're released but have kept to the strict policy of keeping one phone at time and selling the other one on just to fund the purchase. It's common sense and it helps financially however this time around I have two phones which are equally as good and I have a hard time deciding between them both so for once I'll have two phones at once! :D

Although I totally agree with you having more than one phone is confusing and too much trouble and this time around I've only kept both the One S & S3 because I cant bear to let go of either phone and I've been working my butt off recently at work so the overtime will take most of the burden away financially :)

I got home quite late from work today but I've taken some comparison shots in the garden. All auto no adjustments and no flash.

These pics were taken approx 30 mins ago in the garden in fading light. Both phones I must say have held up well considering...

Quickly catching up with the thread I love how everyone's posting pictures and videos. Keep up the great work! More of the same please!! ;)

@Sarge Great Pictures, great surroundings

@Nexus18 just saw your post above, will check out your comparison pics ASAP!

i would probably get one just for the sake of it but i can't live with 16gb space :S what were htc thinking! i bet it puts off a lot of people..

I doubt it. Look at the iPhone. Most people just go for looks to be honest! Manufacturer's go for the mass market most don't care about specs!

16GB will be ample for most. For me personally no. 16GB is on the small side only because I like to store music, take photos and videos and such and would find myself constantly deleting stuff. Out of that 16 only 10 is for the user considering 10GB that is small for me.

On a side note, this phone is lovely. Sis got hers had a good play. Compared to my HOX Sense is much faster and smoother. It flies. Sound quality via headphones is much better it's clean. Can't really notice the pentile, display is bright and vivid as expected with AMOLED but I prefer SLCD2. Text appears sharp better than our previous SGS2s.

Battery life too early to tell, she has no issues with her Talkmobile signal. Data speeds are fantastic at home on Talk Mobile she's getting 6-7 down and 2-4 up! Similar to my Vodafone contract. Signal is strong here.

Camera is good like the HOX. It feels nice in the hand and much easier to control due to size compared against the HOX. Build quality is lovely as well.

Great mid range phone.

+1

The HOS has more than surprised a lot of people. They were expecting the HOX to be the better phone and in some ways it is, however the HOS has the better processor, better battery life, camera and sound are also superior than the HOX.

Great mid range phone indeed...the best in its class! :)

Indeed. I can only imagine the HTC One XL will be as good maybe not so for battery but as good as the HOS. SLCD2 + S4 = Win compared to the HOX.

This weekend I'll post some camera shots HOX vs HOS vs SGS3 if I get the time and if my sis let's me borrow her phone!

Most definitely the One XL would be as good as the HOS in terms of smoothness but may take a slight hit on the battery life because of the larger screen.

You summed it up nicely SLCD2 + S4 does equal a win! :)

We'll be looking forward to the comparison pics, that would be ideal adding the HOX to the equation! Fingers crossed your Sis lets you borrow her new phone!
