4870x2 dead?

4870x2 dead.. what new card to buy?

right basically its just dead. tried and tested it no joy,

what card should i upgrade to? im looking at a 7950 cause the cheapest ones on offer for 287 quid, i didnt really even want to spend that much as my 4870x2 ran everything i wanted.. but i guess thats the end of that ill have to get me wallet out.

what card would the 4870x2 equal to around in the 7000 range? and would a 7950 be a massive upgrade?

Before you buy any new card,Have you tried baking your 4870x2?

Ive bought a few cards back to life in the oven.

A 4870x2 is still a very decent card,even if its DX10,It will still play games like BF3 with ease.

Try out the green team and get a gigagbyte windforce 670. You can get them for £317 if you google it.

Baking a card is just a temporary fix, if its dead try baking as it might work, but id just shell out for a new card to be fair.

I'd give the baking a whirl, but as said, I think you need to start looking at a new gpu.

I know a few people who have done it, and have read loads of threads about people doing it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Remove the fan/cooler block and bake the PCB. Just dont cook it to long lol, or to high a heat.

how long do you bake the card and on what heat please?

and what card does the 4870x2 equal to in the 7000 series? no ones actually told me yet haha, and theres no benchmarks that i can find.

It's about the same as the 7850, 7850 slightly faster.

just baked my card guys, and wala... it works! did it for about 6 mins on 200f (130c), put it back in my pc, screen was all green and worked for 20 seconds then dead.. tryed again at 200C (350f?) for 10 mins, it works now.

no idea how long it will last though haha!
