So many problems with this ssd.
Not booting, chkdsk running on start up.
Tried new installation of windows in all drive modes, updated bios ect all to no avail, after a while the problems come back.
I am going to sling it on a fire and be done with it, I never knew the vertex 2 had so many problems as many people have the same trouble as I.
I WILL NEVER BUY OCZ AGAIN, Gonna put standard drive back in.

And I got the same drive when they were released and apart from a teething firmware upgrade in the first couple of weeks I had it
mine has been great and according to that SSD life program still has 8 years left in it

and the difference between a standard hard drive and ssd is night and day

to me putting in a mech drive after using a SSD drive is going back to the dark ages

Likewise, I bought a vertex 2E of the bay, ran six months without problems and just sold it, the new owner is perfectly happy with it.

Depends on many factors and you cannot blame a generation of equipment or even one manufacturer for your bad experience.

Before you sling it on the fire, I will have it :)

Gonna try for the last time.

Had a word with OCZ - going to reflash the firmware and erase the drive back to factory settings the way they have advised me.
Lets hope it works.:(

seems to me the ocz's have a reasonable failure rate, but when they work they work really well. You have probably just been unlucky

Name a hdd or ssd manufacturer.... you've just made a list of companies who all have products fail. You can't have a 100% working rate, it won't happen, it's a pain in the behind, sure, but there is little way around it.

OCZ are pretty good in terms of support, they'll try and help you get it working as is because its quicker easier to find a fix on the spot, if they can't they'll replace it for you. If they can verify a drive is working but its not compatible with something in your setup I wouldn't be surprised if they, or the place it was bought didn't offer you a refund.

So Far so good

Reflashed and erased back to factory settings.
Seems ok so far but it is early days.
If you guys go on to the Ocz support site you will see that this type of drive has a mass of complaints about it.
I will check a little bit more next time before buying.

Most of the people who post are people complaining. You need to check the overall failure rates and compare with the industry to get a fairer comparison.

Purchase date 4 Oct, 10
OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 120GB 3.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD3-2VTX120G)

Still on the same drive and install, firmware still the same as when I bought it 1.22 & not had any problems what so ever with mine. I think you just got some bad luck there.

Its more likely a combination of factors like the chipset on the motherboard, etc

Its nice when there is a couple machines involved and you can just swap it over to something first as a backup then as a main drive if the problem goes away. Its a lot easier then figuring out why exactly

Wish I could say the same, had two fail within six months. Performance was great while they lasted.
