I just wondered if people round here would regard themselves as a feminist? That is you believe women should be equal to men.
I would say that I definitely am, and I seriously can't see why anyone wouldn't be. There's still a lot of sexism in society today, not just in the workplace and it just seems to go unnoticed.
For example the sexual objectification of women that you see all over magazines, adverts, posters and strip clubs. It's ridiculous how women are brought up to think they should be wearing make-up, must make an effort to dress well etc. Women's magazines seem to portray an image of woman that they all should aspire too. A lot of them also spout **** such as 'top 10 ways to please your man' and other nonsense. Why is a woman's magazine all about him?
I recently read Caitlin Moran's, 'How to be a Woman' and she says, 'If men aren't doing it, then it's ********', and I wholeheartedly agree.
