Wondering about...

Basically my mum managed to bash her external HDD quite hard and it now no longer works. After managing to take the unit apart we found a Seagate Barracuda drive inside.

So to see if it worked at all I plugged it up to a sata port in my comp and it doesn't seem to be appearing. Does that mean that the drive is actually completely dead? or is there some reason that it's not showing up?

Do you mean have I plugged it into my PSU etc? :L

It doesn't seem to be spinning at all. Guessing that's a sign it's dead.

I had to ask. As *anyone* on this forum knows. 99% of the time when someone asks, its not plugged in

ahah. well it's been tried when it's a full unit (didn't work) when I first booted my PC I had forgotten the power cable (so you would've been right) but I quickly rebooted plugged it in then made the post

but it doesn't seem to be spinning or anything.
