Are you a feminist?

Society in some cases has made women think that their bodies are there to be used and its all they are good for. Some women aspire to be topless models for Nuts, because society has made them think that this is ok.

What's wrong with that aspiration? I'm pretty sure the topless models for Nuts earn more than I do and will be able to retire much earlier than I will be able to if they manage their money well. Some of them clearly enjoy doing it and enjoy the attention they get. Others perhaps don't enjoy it but have realised that it's very profitable. Others still may have realised that it might allow them to get into the circles where they could bag a footballer husband and be set for life that way.

How are any of those above scenarios "exploiting" said women? It's just an easy route to fame, adulation and money if you have the looks for it.

There are women who get pushed into drugs and exploitation/prostitution but that isn't anything to do with the girls that are in magazines etc. It's the more underground stuff that isn't in the public eye that we need to worry about.

I still dont go for it. they have a choice to not be a topless model or whatever. society does not force them to, that's just crazy, else more women would be doing it.
I think its just an easy excuse for their laziness to get a real job that they don't like, ie. shelf-stacking, factory work......

Also if anything it's inequality towards men as girls can get lots and lots of money for thing such as Nuts, Playboy and can make a career of looking "hot, sexy" while men do not have that option as there's barely any demand for that thing.

Hehe was not advocating that, don't put words in my mouth :p
Was a genuine question, I do not know how the pay goes.

I apologise, I didn't realise it was a question, I thought you were stating it.

indeed.

don't get me wrong, I strongly believe a woman could do my job as well, if not better, than I do. but most choose not to.
it should be a case of whoever is best for the job should be the one that's hired, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity...... so, if people think I would make a better topless model than the women in NUTS now, and they want to throw some cash at me, then why not.

Women are different to men, so in some situations they must be treated different to men.

Now shut up and get back in the kitchen.....

Would you ever sleep with a woman that didn't shave her legs or had hairy armpits? If you don't find it attractive then that's fine, but its when people say women SHOULD shave their legs/armpits that annoys me. Why should they? Some people don't care.

Who are these people that say women SHOULD shave? By all means, don't. But don't come back here complaining when you're struggling to find someone to bonk. Most blokes like their women with shaven legs and armpits, just like most women like their blokes clean shaven on the face and with muscles popping out all over. It's a fact of life and works the same for men and women.

The whole 'men are paid more than woman' thing makes me laugh because the inference by anyone who says it 'therefore business is sexist'.

Women should have complete equality of opportunity, they should not be given a false environment of equality of outcome.

Could it be that, in general, men are more aspirational than women? Could the fact men tend not to take years off their careers through paternity leave like many do have an effect?

Could it be that contrary to the feminist mindset that women are depressed and feel oppressed unless they are out enjoying a hot shot corporate career is wrong and that a large proportion of women actually want a husband that earns more than them and would prefer to look after the kids whilst he goes out to work?

I'm unaware of any company that deliberately offers a lower hourly rate for women than men. I've never seen a job advert that says 'Salary 25-28k (unless you are a female then we'll only give you 22k) and I don't believe that if you compare roles like for like in the same organisation that women are being paid less than men, the 'stat' is being made up by adding all men's salaries and all women's salaries in total and calling the difference 'sexist'.

Wouldn't say that was true...

Hardly struggling for gash I'd say....

Umm, so you think that if a woman hits us it's okay to hit her back? I don't know if you've noticed but our muscle's and overall physique are much much larger than that of a woman.

Any man who hits a woman is a pure coward. I kinda like it when they hit me anyway, gives you a chance to make it all sexual.

Don't be a fool. I don't think it's ok for anyone to hit anyone, but in my experience many women have no reservations about throwing a punch at or slapping a man because they know he won't fight back.

Surely you mean only believe in feminism when it makes a real difference to their lives? Salary and the right to vote etc can't really be compared to not giving up a seat to a guy

So being able to get away with assault (within reason) doesn't make a real difference to their lives?

OK, well some other example of the type of guy most women want....

Big schlong.... loadsa money..... nice car..... nice clothes.... any of the above.

My point wasn't lost even though you can provide some exceptions to the norm. In my experience most women like clean shaven men as they don't like to kiss men who scratch their faces with stubble/beards.

In my experience there are two types of women, those that like the Mark Wright from TOWIE pretty boy (clean shaven) look and those that prefer the hair chested, bearded 'real man' type.

I was shocked to find out the plasterer I hired was a women, I was shocked again to find out, she's hot.

Something really hot about a women who can graft

Equality: Yes.

Are they equally good at all things. Not necessarily.

Women tend to have poorer careers because they take a few years out to have kids, and various other things. If a guy took a few years out of his career he'd probably suffer a bit of a setback as well...

Some things women are better at men than and vice versa.

If you really want to suggest otherwise then why aren't Olympic events unisex... Or any other competitive sport...

As an interesting side point, whilst I have my doubts over cause and effect, it may be reasonable to argue that if you had two people you had to chose between to fire, with both being identical, apart from gender, you should fire the woman.
Sounds ridiculous I know, but studies show that human happiness levels tend to recover to a base level (I've talked about this in other threads), however, interestingly, if you fire a woman, and she remains unemployed, generally speaking, her happiness levels will return back to the base (after falling). Men on the other hand, will see their happiness levels fall, but they will never recover to that 'base' rate as such, if they remain unemployed.
Now, what the reasons are for that are questionable, and I suspect in part, a lot of this comes about due to pressure upon the man to uphold the stereotypical male role, but still, I always feel it's quite interesting...

There is an easy way to start to address that one however companies will never go for it, shared maternity/paternity entitlement. Obviously the woman will need to take the time off for the actual birth.

it must be nice to just stay slim with no excersize and just watching what you eat and only having to wear makeup.

while men are expected to have six packs and muscles which is a lot more hard work
