What is the difference between:

Samsung 256GB SSD 830 Notebook/Apple Series SATA 6Gb/s KIT with Norton Ghost - (MZ-7PC256N/EU) £144.98

Samsung 256GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb/s KIT with Norton Ghost - (MZ-7PC256D/EU) £239.99
Other than one comes with Notebook fitments

The SSD itself is identical but the notebook version comes with a USB to SATA converter while (I think) the desktop version comes with a 3.5 to 2.5 tray.

Pretty much.

There's no difference with the drives themselves.

The only difference is what accessories come with it in the box.

The "desktop" version includes a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket with screws and SATA data & power cables.

The "notebook" version inludes a SATA to USB adapter cable and a mounting spacer so that it fits in the space for 9.5mm thick disks.

Do you mean playing with a full deck? I've not heard the other expression.

I bought the laptop version, but I don't think that proves I'm sane :)

Guess a lot of us are on shaky ground when it comes to sanity- I will be joinin you in the asylum- looks like a good buy

This is what comes in the notebook variant, though why an SSD needs a paper manual and a disk based version as well I really don't know.
