***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

The thing about screen time is, just how long is anyone away from a plug point or car charger, even builders on an outside job have plenty access to a point, if I was hiking in the lake district I would attach one of my solar chargers to my rucksack and be constantly charging.

Even 45min on charge in your lunch time in a warehouse will be more than enough charge to get anyone home, imho it is a non issue except for those of us involved professionally in battery development.

Of course anyone can avoid the issue by spending a tenner on Eb for a spare bat

So it comes down to being a thing to use that points out your superior discernment in choosing a model of phone or attacking another model that you didn't buy based on a perceived weakness, again pointing out your superior discernment for not buying the "carp" phone, some kind of success through association.

Well tbf, it is a pretty important feature for a lot of people and it is nice knowing that you won't have to charge every chance you get or taking the back cover off to put in a spare battery etc. Certainly an important factor for me! :o :p

At first I was worried about my S battery life and I thought, doesn't matter too much as I will always be near a PC or power socket etc. but when I got my S and seen what sort of battery life I was getting, I was very impressed and felt so relieved knowing that I could get 1-2 days (probably longer) and 4+ hours (with auto brightness as well) on screen time of 1 charge easily.

I do agree with Jonny, that 3 hours on screen time isn't that impressive (but good in some ways when you do consider the screen size and res. and all that android does etc.) Can't remember what mrk's usage was for that test now, but with my usual usage (on any phone) I would consider it to be poor as well. The X is considered to be very poor yet it gets about 3 hours 15 minutes on screen time (at about 30% brightness), so you can't consider the X to be poor but the GS 3 amazing......... :p

But from the other screenshots that mrk has posted and gmans plus stoosh's battery life it is very impressive (over 4+ hours on screen time with auto brightness or 50% brightness)

I don't think you'll find any current smart phone that has a better battery life than the S3.. least not at the moment.

HTC one S (pretty much the same though, still need to see more tests in order to see which is the better one though, think the S is better overall though [due to the smaller screen and inferior res.], most people in the S thread here getting up to 5 hours on screen time) and XL (this can't be bought in the UK though, but can be imported, apparently gets up to 6 hours on screen time) :p

Le sigh. The screen really is fantastic though, and there's no chance Apple are going to get near it, even with the next couple of releases.

I took my phone off charge at 8.30 am, while I was up town I listened to music, bbc 5 11 till 12 then radio 4 till 1.30, about 30 txts and say 10 min calls and lots of browsing,as you know the Note is a screen power hog, it's currently on 96%, , because I've charged it since, NO PROBLEM

As said it is personal preference at the end of the day :)

Some haven't got an issue with doing that and some people do :)

Absolutely agree dude, each to their own, I just noticed my real world bog standard phone user's point of view was pretty much absent from these tech enthusiasts boards, most people I know sit around their work, home or friends with their phones plugged in and are happy to do so for the superior browsing or viewing experience.

Onwards and upwards, batteries will get better and better because the worlds armies want/need them to, nowt to do with us really.:):)

Yeah, you really need to remember what others may or may not like as that is how the majority of arguments for this forum start :p :D Hence why I put "IMO or/and I personally prefer" in most of my posts :p lol

Indeed!

The next big thing really will be true wireless charging I think  Never have to worry then (unless you aren't around a wireless charger :p)

Nuclear powered phones anyone? Yes please.

:D

Powered by a mini hydrogen fuel cell  Until it goes bust and then you have a mini nuclear explosion :D :p

Yes I stole that from Terminator 3 :p What an awful film that was :o Not even Arnie could save it :p

So what do I need to buy to connect this to a tv via hdmi? Also can you connect multiple usb devices to the phone?

Have been following this thread since the beginning and after waiting too long on the Vodafone 32GB blue pre order list decided to order sim-free through ur-mobile following some recommendation from this thread. Can't recommend these guys enough for getting this phone to me as quick as they could and the contact that I had with them was top notch after waiting for voda. They also told me they still have a few more in stock if anyone is interested.

That ICS theme is excellent. Like clean alloys on a car, it makes it look much more impressive all round. It also adds lockscreen rotation so docked in a car or on a bedside, looks/functions nicely.

Any ideas where I can turn this off? It's very annoying for me.
