Hi guys,

I have a 60GB OCZ Vertex 2e, it's been great, but it's finally ran out of space.

I have around £100 to spend and i'm looking for the best upgrade path, here's a few idea's i've had. What do you think I should do?

1) Look hard for another Vertex 2e and raid them.
2) Sell SSD and get a new 120gb one?

If number 2) what's the best choice to get? Agility 3, Vertex 3, 4, m4?

I have no idea....

I have Sata 3 on my mobo.

Thanks.

You could keep the vertex 2e as your os boot drive and add another ssd with a higher capacity to move your games and stuff too it.

Would save you the hassle of installing windows again and all your installed apps and games.

Was in the same situation, I upgraded to a Vertex Agility 3 240gb as I see 120gb getting used. I still have SATA 2 but I suppose I can take it with me if I upgrade. I looked at another 60gb they go for around £40 second hand.

Personally I would sell it then it's not going to cost you much more for a new 120gb SSD

Could do, but I'd rather save money and sell the old drive too. Plus can't you get programs that completely copy your windows install to another drive?

Also use windirstat to identify and clearout junk.

Delete Windows update files, hibernate and pagefile and you're laughing. 60gig is plenty

Got rid of all that when I first installed SSD. No hibernate, indexing, search, pagefile and all doc locations moved to another drive. Win 64bit, BF3, and some other bits and it's full.

How's the speed of the Agility 3? Did you also have a Vertex 2?

Does anyone know which is the best bang for buck, Agility 3, Vertex 3 or Vertex 4?

I've had a lot of trouble with my OCZ Agility 3 - sometimes it just locked up and I had to power-cycle the PC before the BIOS would recognise it again; also I didn't get anything like the speeds OCZ claimed in their adverts. OCZ came out with a series of firmware updates, none of which fixed the lockups until the most recent one (2.22). The speed is still the same though.

So personally, I'd never buy one again. I believe the Vertex 3 and 4 are better, but after the past year I'm not happy with OCZ and will probably go Samsung next time.

Agility 3's are ****. Ive had 3 x 60GB ones die on me, seems they are plagued with issues.

1) Too much hassle for relatively little gain, you'll have to wipe it to create the RAID array
2) As above hassle of moving data off and selling the drive

I'd go for option #3:
3) Just buy a new 256GB drive and add that. 256GB seems to be right price point at the moment, should set you back £140 for a decent drive.

wouldnt adding a 2tb storage hdd solve your problems? they can be had around £80-£85

no way youve filled 60gb with os alone? im using 60gb ssd with full os and few programs and still have 25gb free

you only need an ssd for your os,a bog standard hdd can handle everything else just fine

I'd try SpaceSniffer first - it showed me that my disabled pagefile was still on the disk, and my downloads folder was massive. Moved my downloads folder to my media disk, and deleted the page file.
