***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

What's the best keyboard that includes some sort of Swype feature? The default one is annoying me and no where near as good as the S2 default one. I'm using Touchpal Keyboard at the moment but it does little things that annoy me as well.

Anyone got any 'stand out' apps for the S3? I've got most of my stuff setup now.

Well Swype BETA is good, I thought the S2 stock keyboard was rubbish,it had weird prediction that was hit and miss and wasn't as good for fast typing. The S3 one I found to be a lot better.

I use custom vanilla ICS keyboard taken from an AOKP ROM on the S2. Works great. I also have Thumb, Swiftkey 3 BETA and Swype BETA.

Can't find Swype Beta on the Play Store at all?

Install the swype beta, make sure you install english(GB) though as it's yank by default.

Edit: I should refresh first sorry.

Thanks guys Swype Beta looks exactly like the S2 Swype which I got on with.

So any killer must have apps to use with the S3?

Also the calender appears to be some dodgy Samsung thing, is there anyway to get the S2 calender back (I think it's the default ICS one)?

It looks dodgy at first but it's just a colour theme. It's rather good though with some unique features.

As for must have apps, it's really down to what you do with your phone. If you're rooted then Adfree to remove ads from apps then Titanium Backup to create total backups of apps and data.

SMS Backup+ will backup sms/mms to a label in Gmail for archiving too.

I just find it dead slow to browse through, the other one I could cycle through months and days really quick. This has some fancy animations that end up taking me ages to get to where I want.

Not going to root.

Any decent Calender widgets?

plug phone into my work pc this morning

worked first time.

My work pc is doing the same as you now, not installing the drivers.

Home pc works fine !

Got a scratch on my phone somehow during a boozy night out on Friday. After 4 years without one on both my iPhones, to say I'm upset/disappointed would be an understatement.

I've seen that CPWH will repair it for £80, but are there any other methods I could use before going there as a last resort?

Signed one sad S3 owner.

Seems like the new Gorilla glass 2 is rubbish, smashes and scratch really easily

It's likely the same as before, these things amount to luck and not much else.

That's the thing - it was in a pocket that I've had my previous phones countless times and nothings happened to them. Just so happens that on this instance it did.

My heart sank a little when I woke up on Saturday morning and noticed it.

So yeah, if anyone has any tips or advice as to how I could maybe remove it or at least reduce it, that would be appreciated.

Got it working

go to settings, then app development, go to usb debugging, deactivate it then reactivate it without the your phone connected to the pc

then connect your phone to pc again

So tempted to get this phone as my 2 year iPhone 4 contract has now come to an end. Bet there must be a lot of iPhone 4 early adopters like me thinking along the same lines.

My only concern about going down the Android route is that I'm so used to the simplicity of iTunes syncing for things like firmware updates, podcasts, app management etc. Can someone here who has come from an iPhone comment on how they found the transition?

You said it was a boozy night, this just means your iPhones didn't encounter the same treatment as that particular night.

Solution, drink less :p

Gorilla Glass 2 is the same as 1, just thinner.

As mentioned it's just bad luck. Even iPhone screens scratch given the right amount of "bad luck".

If CPW will repair for £80 then go that route, consider it a Friday night out's worth of spending and learn a lesson from it!
