Try instore or a friends. The whole design of Android means it doesn't require an iTunes like app but you can use one if you really want (it would be Kies or Double Sync I guess here), the bigger day to day differences are the homescreen and customisation rather than the items you mentioned to be honest. In terms of the things you mentioned:

Firmware updates - Done via Kies (Software from Samsung) on an SGS3 or OTA. Simple as hell, your phone will even tell you when it's available if you enable the option.
Podcasts - either direct download with an app or transfer from pc with drop and drag. Mine sync as soon as I get back to wifi every day, this is simpler than Firmware even.
App management - go into the store ("Play") and click the app then click uninstall. Done. Feeling flash? Install over the air through play.google.com. Store takes all major credit and debit cards :)

This is why it is so important to use a screen protector IMO. £3 piece of plastic (which really has no effect on the overall quality of the screen [if applied correctly] except for the feel and greasy marks/fingerprints being shown more easily) as opposed to that option.

In your pocket?.... without a case?

That is just asking for trouble.
 
Not if the phone is not its own in the pocket, I've never scratched a screen even though i've never used a screen protector and my job is not really what I call clean.

Agreed. Every time someone posts complaining about a scratch on the screen or on the case, or talking about how Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be tougher than Gorilla Glass 1 (it's not tougher, it's thinner) and yet still has marks, I want to slap my forehead.

To quote someone who summed it up perfectly in another forum thread:

"Quartz is the second most common rocks/dust particles on the planet's crust. Its formed in a crystalline structure making it really strong. Glass is made up of the same components, silica, but is amorphous, non crystallized with added impurities. It is not as hard as SAND....Therefore the glass screen will scratch when slid around dirt, it doesnt take much."

If you dont spend a measly fiver on a case and screen protector for a £500 device that you will be carrying around in your pocket every day that will most likely get said dust and dirt particles inside it, then please do not post moaning about it.

It's just basic common sense, and there are far too many of these posts now.

Makes you wonder, why they dont come standard with a screen protector on, those that dont want it can just bin it then.
Does it not fall under, "not fit for purpose" if a phone which goes in your pocket so easily gets damaged?

Could say the same about a brand new car. Put your keys on the bonnet and they slide off = scratch. Is the car "fit for purpose"?
Either way, I'm hearing too many stories of people scratching them so I'm considering one now!!

Why is a car bonnet designed to hold your keys? A phone is designed to go in your pocket.
 
CheckROM is finishing up nicely so far for the S3, the kitchen is still being rebuilt and there are no mods yet in the beta but it's going to be epic.

That and CM9 nightly = Good times for S3 owners all round.


Does the CM9 nightly has touch focus camcorder/hdr mode in camera etc?
