***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Colour change? It certainly looks a different shade from black to gun metal to some brushed alloy to purple but doesn't look "blue" at all unlike the first Pebble Blue I saw in P4U in London before the recalled unit got taken off the demo stand!

In daily conditions under office lighting and sunny conditions mine looks dark brushed purple or very dark-to-black grey. Looks nice.

Edit*
Mentioned before but it's much more of a Tonic colour if anything :p

I'm pretty sure the first pictures of the S3 I saw were really bright plasticy blue yeah, but I've not seen it since the announcement! I thought it was just a weird concept thingy.

I can't decide whether or not it's worth my time buying one of these with data due to the fact that the coverage is so poor in the Highlands. Three and T-Mobile are the only providers with any sort of 3g coverage and it doesn't look great. Do you think it's worth risking it? Almost seems a waste to have a smartphone and not have 3g access.

Indeed. It is amazing how different it looks under different lights. Love the colour/colours!

I'm not that big a fan of the edge bezel wrapping the side though, that doesn't change colour, I wish it did :p

I'm wondering if it's an overcoat though and if I should do my patented scouring pad trick on it like on the S2 which would remove the overcoat and maybe reveal a grey/silver undercoat finish?

Hmm...

I've found the transition very easy,

Samsungs Kies(think thats what its called) software can let you send music and other files via usb or wifi to the phone.

As for applications and like I've found it very easy to find similar applications to the ones I used on my iPhone or even better ones.

The one thing I don't like is the lack of tapping the top of the screen when scrolled on a page and it taking you to top of the screen, really miss that.

You don't need to use Kies to transfer files at all.... You shouldn't need to use any program, just plug it in and drag and drop.

Oh well it was brief but fun, I have now reached the stage where I can post about it without wanting to smash the keyboard
Went out for the England match after work with my mates, got absolutely trashed and ended up with no rucksack. It was under the table all night with everyone elses, but by 11pm, there were 3 bags missing, mine was one of them and my S3 was in it :mad:
Id put it in my bag as I thought with all the jumping around it would be safer, but 3 bags in one night - someone did well...
The pub has it on CCTV and it has been passed to the police, same guy, waited until the goals and quietly took the bags and passed them to another guy who left, but we are not expecting much, and Im covered on my home insurance, but with a 200 quid excess which means that I probably won't bother, so back to my atrix which feels very small and completely useless in comparison
Probably going to wait for jellybean now, unless the LG 4X is a reasonable price but it is going to be a long 5 months....
Gutted

That's unlucky?

The faces were on CCTV, grabs screenshots/paste around and see if anyone recognises them etc on the usual places, Facebook/Reddit and so on?

mrk, you using that Rock case from ebay? How's it look?

Genuine Rock case yeah. I also have the non genuine one.

Plenty of pics in accessories thread :)

Wow, that really sucks. A good lesson to us all.

I'm assuming you don't have Cerberus installed on it? :( Also, £200 to have a £500 phone replaced doesn't seem too bad?

The excess is surely worth it, Contents insurance doesn't go up all that much with claims compared to cars, you'd be quids in if you got it back, sold it and waited still I reckon.
